Odyssey Adventure Racing’s Land Navigation Clinic will be on Oct.17 in Roanoke, Virginia. Learn nav skills in the classroom all morning, then head out to the hills to practice day and night nav. Trail Running Rampage update! We’re just 10 days away from the dance at Douthat, and we’ve got good news for our 50K runners.

We’re extending the cutoff for starting the final loop by one full hour. Instead of needing to make it to the end of the second major loop by 2:30, 50K runners now have until 3:30 p.m. to continue onto the final section around the lake. This should even out the pacing and give more runners a stronger shot at earning that ultra finish.

The course is in excellent shape, we’re crossing our fingers for great weather, and we’ll have strong support waiting for you out there. And don’t forget that home cooked post-race meal of chicken and fixings or a veggie option. See you soon!

Only 18 days until the Trail Running Rampage! Make it a family adventure weekend at Douthat State Park – run the race, camp-out (or stay in their cabins), hit the beach, check out a kayak or SUP from their new self-serve kiosk, and bring your mountain bikes.

A little course recap:

🏃 6 miles: A fast and fun loop around the lake – without the gnarly climb!
🌲 13 miles: Classic trail running on a challenging loop – climbs, descents, roots, rocks and flow. You get a little bit of everything!
💪 26 miles: The “best bang for your buck” – the historic original course and twice the opportunity to challenge yourself.
🔥 50K+: The full ultra experience, plus some serious bragging rights.

I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to Mike Scales with Alleghany Highlands Trails Alliance and Randy with at Douthat State Park and the volunteers that came out and helped work on the trails that are part of the Odyssey Trail Running Rampage. We put in a full day! The trails look great! Come out and see for yourself. Registration for the Odyssey Trail Running Rampage is still open!

We are teaming up with Mike Scales of Alleghany Highlands Trails Alliance on Saturday morning 8/22/26 to do some trail work on the trails we use for the race. Come out help and run the trail afterwards. We are going to meet that the camp store at 9:00am. Hope to be done by 2:00. Depending on how much help we get. The Trail Running Rampage 50K is getting close to full – so if that distance has been calling your name, now’s the time to jump in! The 26, 13, and 6-mile races still have plenty of room, but those spots may not last forever.

Race day is coming up fast on September 12, and fall will be sneaking into the mountains before we know it – hopefully bringing some cooler running weather with it!
