Get creative and embrace the season with new programs at Brambleton Rec! 🎨🍂🧶

Next week brings a fantastic wave of hands-on arts, crafts, and seasonal workshops to our center. Whether you want to explore mixed media, sculpt clay, build mythic decor, or cook up some fall favorites, there is something here for all ages:

Art Lab! Mixed Media (Starts Sept 14): Sample collage, ink, watercolor, printmaking, and more over six creative sessions.

Paper Mache Masks & Mythic Decor (Starts Sept 14): Build expressive masks, monsters, or Halloween costume pieces using found materials.

Clay Creatures & Vases (Starts Sept 16): Explore handbuilding through pinch pots, animal bowls, and decorative vessels.

Fall Squashes (Sept 16): Learn nutritional benefits, preparation methods, and storage for butternut, pumpkin, and acorn squashes with Aimee Valenzuela—plus try the soup!

Crochet for Kids (Sept 19): Kids can learn basic stitches and turn yarn into colorful creations in a fun, welcoming environment.

We have an incredible variety of programs lined up for the second half of September. Whether you want to plan for the future, get creative with arts and crafts, let the kids cook, or take a scenic weekend trip, there is something for everyone:
Ducks In A Row (Starts Sept 21 or 22): Develop a timeline and plan for organizing personal information and estate wishes with Joyce Waugh.
Sketch to Canvas (Starts Sept 22): Build drawing and layering techniques with a paintbrush from scratch.
Little Chefs Morning Out (Sept 23): Preschoolers put on chef hats to make mini pizzas, fruit kabobs, and decorate an apron to take home!
Canvas Creations for Kids & Mosaic Pots (Sept 26): Unleash youth creativity with guided painting or transform a plain terra cotta pot with colorful tiles.
Warhammer World Builders (Sept 26): Explore lore, factions, and simplified tabletop battles in the Warhammer 40K universe.
South Boston Harvest Festival & Caesars Trip (Sept 26): Shop craft and food vendors in downtown South Boston, followed by an afternoon stop at Caesars of Virginia in Danville!

Our TRS Back to the 80’s Night Club at Brambleton Recreation Center was packed with incredible energy, iconic outfits, delicious mocktails, and non-stop dancing. Thank you to all of our amazing participants, caregivers, and staff who brought the neon spirit and made Saturday night so special!

Adventure, wellness, and local trips are on the horizon at Brambleton Recreation Center!

September is just around the corner, and we have a fantastic lineup of fitness classes, restorative wellness sessions, and exciting day trips ready for you. Plan ahead and secure your spot today:

"Come From Away" at Barter Theatre (Aug 29): Enjoy a heartwarming matinee viewing of this inspiring musical. (Cost includes transportation, ticket, and tour host).

T'ai Chi 24 Form (Starts Sept 1): Strengthen your body and relax your mind with instructor Dink Wiseman. (Drop-ins welcome!).

Aikido (Starts Sept 3): Learn self-defense principles, body awareness, and flexibility (Ages 18+).

Yoga for Aging & Sensitive Bodies (Starts Sept 3): Build balance and strength with a gentle, adaptable 6-week course led by Liz Fox.

Join us on August 29 for a special day trip to see the heartwarming musical Come From Away, based on the true story of 7,000 airline passengers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, following the 9/11 attacks. It's an unforgettable show highlighting kindness, resilience, and human connection.
