The results are in from last week’s poll of elk vs mule deer. The winner, and by a large margin: elk.

After locating the herd at first light, a few bulls split off and started working into the junipers. I watched and waited for the bulls to get into a position that had better wind. Once they got into position, I started the stalk.

I snuck in to roughly 200yds of the bulls while they fed, waiting for the opportunity to move closer for a shot.

Now being roughly 150yds from the bulls, I put my GULO OUTDOORS stalkers on to make the final move.

The bulls crested a small ridge and I crept over the top. The bigger 6 point was feeding at 20 yards slightly quartering away. I drew back and settled my 20 yard pin. As I let the arrow go, I watched it connect right where I wanted it.

The 60 yard blood trail was easy to follow.

As he lay, roughly 60 yards from the shot.

Here he is, my 2026 archery bull. One of my favorite stalks to date and an incredible hunt!
