The Best Bike at MADE 2026 Goes Against Almost Every Bike Trend Right Now

08/22/2026

It’s 2026… this is your sign to clean your drivetrain and start waxing your chain. šŸ˜‚

That old chain and cassette grime doesn’t just look nasty—it’s a combination of dirt, lubricant, and wear particles that can turn your drivetrain into a grinding paste.

Chain waxing has some serious benefits:

• Keeps your drivetrain MUCH cleaner
• Reduces the amount of dirt and grit sticking to your chain
• Helps reduce drivetrain wear
• Reduces friction and can improve efficiency
• Eliminates the need to constantly re-lube your chain
• Less greasy mess on your bike, hands, and everything else

A properly waxed chain stays relatively clean because there’s no sticky wet lubricant on the outside constantly attracting dirt.

So if your drivetrain looks like this… maybe it’s time to give it some love. šŸ˜‚

People keep saying this is the hardest tire to install. With proper technique it’s a breeze.

A while back, I got to try out some new tires from the Zipp x Goodyear collaboration. They were supposed to be a super fast tubeless tire, and honestly, they definitely lived up to that.

The downside? They weren’t exactly the most durable. It wasn’t until later that I realized these were essentially designed with racing in mind.

It was fun while it lasted, but I probably didn’t get more than 800 miles out of them before switching back to my trusty Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TRs.

I’ve always been really happy with Continental tires, and these specific tires have consistently gotten me just north of 3,000 miles—which is pretty impressive considering how bad the roads are around here.

Honestly, I find it hard to change my tire choice unless someone gives me a set to try or they come stock on a new bike šŸ˜‚

So I’m curious—what are you guys running for road tubeless these days? 28–30c? What’s your go-to?

Wish I knew this technique sooner.

Installing a tire without a tire lever is all about technique, not brute force. Start by installing one side of the tire completely, then insert the tube and make sure it’s seated evenly inside the tire.

When installing the second bead, work your way around the rim while keeping the already-installed section pushed toward the center of the rim. This creates the extra slack you need to get the final section over the rim.

The key is to finish opposite the valve and keep pushing the bead into the center channel. Once you have enough slack, use your hands to roll the final section over the rim.

No tire lever. No pinched tubes. Just proper technique. šŸ”§šŸš²
