Take the Reins Ministry — Be Still and Trust the God
Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
🌿 Devotional
Hard times are inevitable. Loved ones pass away. Friends face sickness. Jobs are lost. Marriages go through difficult seasons. Sometimes life feels like a trail filled with steep hills, unexpected obstacles, and turns we never saw coming.
The range of human pain is broad, but thankfully, God’s comfort is greater than our circumstances.
When we’re out on the trail with our horses, there are moments when the path becomes uncertain. We may come to a fallen tree, a muddy crossing, a steep hill, or a trail we’ve never traveled before. A wise rider doesn't panic. Instead, she settles her horse, takes a breath, and trusts her mount to respond to her guidance.
Our walk with God is much the same.
When trouble comes, our first instinct may be to grab the reins and try to control everything ourselves. We want answers. We want solutions. We want to know what is around the next bend.
But God asks us to be still and trust Him.
Sometimes faith means waiting.
Waiting doesn't mean doing nothing. It means praying instead of panicking. It means surrendering what we cannot control. It means believing that even when we cannot see what God is doing, He is still working on our behalf.
A horse doesn't need to see the entire trail to take the next step. It simply needs to trust its rider.
And neither do we.
You may be facing a difficult trail today. Perhaps you're grieving someone you love, worried about a sick friend, struggling with a relationship, or carrying a burden that feels too heavy to bear. Whatever you're facing, stop for a moment. Take a deep breath. Be still before the Lord.
Give Him the reins.
Let Him lead you around the bends you cannot see, across the waters you don't know how to cross, and up the hills that seem too steep.
Your circumstances may change, but God's faithfulness never does.
So today, don't spend all your energy trying to control the trail. Trust the One who knows every mile of it.
🐴 Take the Reins Challenge
The next time your horse stops on the trail to look at something unfamiliar, remember this: sometimes we stop because we're afraid of what we see ahead.
Instead of letting fear take the reins, pause and pray:
“Lord, I don't know what is around the next bend, but I trust You to lead me there.”
Then take the next step in faith. So let go of the reins and let God REIGN in your life. Happy trails y’all.
🙏
Lord, when the trail of life becomes difficult, help me to be still and trust You. When I am tempted to take control, remind me to place the reins back in Your hands. Comfort me in my pain, strengthen me in my waiting, and give me faith when I cannot see what lies ahead. Help me trust that You are working even when I cannot see Your hand. Guide me safely along every trail, and remind me that I never walk it alone. In Jesus' name, Amen. ❤️🐴✝️
