Lee Driscoll performing the Darvish drill, working to get his weight into the back of his heel. This helps prevent him from dumping his pelvis forward and allows him to maintain a more vertical posture as he moves linearly down the mound.
A lot of athletes pick up and immediately lean forward, keeping their back leg bent in flexion. This never allows them to properly sit into their back hip and maintain a more level pelvis as they move down the mound. By creating better posture and pelvic position, Lee can move more efficiently and rotate more freely.

Lee Driscoll — another strong XVelo pitching session this week. He continues to stand out with the way he works and competes. The three-pitch mix is coming together nicely: the fastball has good run, and the changeup is playing well off of it with strong arm-side fade. His slider is developing more sweeping action as well. Great progress as he prepares for the fall and winter, with the goal of being ready to make an impact this spring.
Congratulations to Charlie Gunn on continuing his baseball journey at Hampden-Sydney College! ⚾️ It’s been great having you here at XVelo these past couple of months and watching you work hard and grow. We’re excited to see what the future holds for you at the college level. Best of luck, Charlie—we’ll be cheering you on! 🎓⚾️
Ellie has been coming to XVelo for the past couple of months, and we’re so excited to see her progress! She’s already improved her peak velocity by 2 MPH, and we can’t wait to see what the fall and spring bring. 💪🔥
We’ve been working with Alex on his bat path—getting the barrel working behind his body earlier and allowing it to stay on plane throughout the swing.
Alex has a tendency to push his hands down to the baseball, so we’ve been working to flatten out his bat path and eliminate that downward hand action.
You can see the difference from one clip to the next. He’s beginning to feel the barrel working behind him, creating better barrel control into contact, while also slowing the swing down and allowing him to feel the path.
For Zane today, the focus was top-end work and extension through contact:
Top-end off the small bag — working on finishing through the ball.
Away pitch — emphasizing staying through the ball toward second base.
Split-grip drill — focusing on creating and maintaining extension.
Side toss, flattened through the ball — reinforcing a direct, extended path through contact.
Step-back drill — finishing by making sure his weight stays back as he rotates.
Here are some swings from Thursday night out of our older guys. A lot of energy from this group and a lot of really good swings
