VBWA President Phil Boykin and General Counsel Mike Mullin recently attended the Center for Alcohol Policy's 19th Annual Alcohol Law & Policy Conference in Minneapolis, MN. This premier event convenes industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, attorneys, and advocates to examine the latest developments in alcohol law, policy, compliance, and responsible regulation.

We were particularly pleased to attend the panel on the "Challenges of Stolen Alcohol," which featured Virginia's own Anthony Jimenez, Special Agent in Charge with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Commission, alongside:

President and founder of Bickers Consulting Group, LLC, Mary Bickers has more than 40 years of experience as a specialized business consultant to beer distributors and their families throughout the US.

Her focus is on planning from a holistic perspective – guiding distributors through the processes of mergers and acquisitions, supplier approval, multi-generational estate and business succession planning, buy-sell/shareholders agreements, minority shareholder disputes, and family meetings. Since 2005, Mary has guided both buyers and sellers in closing more than 80 purchase and/or sale transactions, many in conjunction with implementing sophisticated estate plans. In addition to her vast experience with beverage wholesalers, Mary has an exceptional ability to navigate sensitive family matters and develop solutions that ensure the long-term well-being of both family members and their businesses.

Mary is a member of multiple state and national beverage wholesaler associations and is actively involved in her community, serving as a sponsor of several health and human services organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge.

Mary studied at the University of North Carolina, Queens College, the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, and the NYU Institute on Federal Taxation.

Mary enjoys traveling and being with her family. She’s an amateur gourmet cook, interior decorator, and antique collector!
