I’m starting to want to sail again.
I came up to the mountain for a planned almost 2 weeks. I was on my yacht from about Christmas. I visited my mountain home about once per month since then. I haven’t been here a week and I want to be back at sea.
From Late Aug to late Sept I am scheduled to be at sea again with 2 massive cruises. Monterey and Honolulu. I should be on the blue water for the good part of a month.
Everybody wants me on their yacht when it matters. 🫡
I told them that my “dance card” is filling up. 🤓

I Love how Noon on my sailboat has nothing to do with your clock.
That’s a Thunderbird. Faded now. 20yrs later. The factory knew about me. Everybody else was on the East Coast. But we put the flag up out here.
That was the tail end of the glory days. I was the kid. And when they gave me the wheel or the throttle or a test boat… I was all business.

Back when I was young and beautiful 🤣
Sometimes I just wanna get back to my roots. As one of the dealerships drivers for Formula Thunderbird on the San Francisco Bay and the Delta, I gotta say some of those challenges were as great as anything we do now in sailing. I suppose if I am candid, it was much more demanding of bravery.
But I knew I needed to learn the wind and how a hull can come along as naturally aspirated in sailing. And I love it too.
Back then, I was FasTec Pete. That’s what they called me. It’s the name of the Thunderbird multi plane racing hull…. I’m fast as f**k boy.

The last photo is of me on a 35 FasTec doing 85+ somewhere around Pittsburgh. Photo from a chopper.
There’s no photo of us breaking the Sacramento mono hull speed record under the Golden Sacramento Bridge. The radar from the bridge tower clocked us at 99.9mph on a skinny waterway. But I suspect that the radar gun was limited. 🤠
