The generosity of our community isn't surprising when you see how they respond when we support clothing drives, food drives, and our annual Angel Tree for children in need.
The Y also has scholarships to help individuals and families afford membership as well as programs like sports, swim lessons, before & after school and Early Learning for ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. These scholarships are only possible due to members and the community making donations to support our non-profit work!
The YMCA Fairfax County Reston continues to amaze us. We recently picked up another 1,082 diapers, bringing their incredible total contribution to the NOVA Diaper Bank to 9,445 diapers. What does that mean for local families?
It can mean fewer diaper rashes and healthier, more comfortable babies and toddlers. It can mean children sleeping more comfortably through the night—and parents getting a little more sleep, too. It can mean a parent has enough diapers to send their child to daycare, allowing them to go to work without worrying that their child will run out of diapers during the day. And it can mean something every family needs: less stress. When diapers are provided, families can use the money they would have spent on diapers to buy groceries, pay the electric bill, fill the gas tank, or cover another essential expense. That is the real impact of the YMCA's generosity.
9,445 diapers means healthier children, less stress for parents, and more financial breathing room for families.
The members and staff of the YMCA Fairfax County-Reston aren't simply donating diapers. They are helping families get through difficult moments with greater dignity, security, and peace of mind. Thank you for continuing to show up for children and families in our community!
