❤️ RDS Update

We’ve officially been allowed back into the RDS building and are currently working on cleanup. We’re also incredibly happy to report that power has been restored much sooner than expected! We did sustain some damage to one of our work vans, but overall, we are incredibly fortunate and grateful that our facility made it through the fire.

League is canceled this week.

We are currently anticipating being able to reopen on Monday, August 31, but we ask for a little patience as we get everything back in order. Schedules and routes may need to be adjusted as we work through the cleanup and recovery process.

If you are returning to the RDS building, please take extra care when traveling through the area. The surrounding area sustained severe fire damage, and conditions may look very different than they did before.

We are incredibly grateful to the first responders who worked tirelessly to protect our community and our homes and businesses. ❤️

Today is all about celebrating the dogs we love so much! ❤️ We’re incredibly lucky to have such a fun, goofy, adventurous group of dogs as part of the RDS family.

We’re so excited to get camp back up and running as soon as we can and see all those happy faces again!

❤️ RDS Update

We have some very good news to share: the RDS building is still standing and has been confirmed to be unaffected by the fire. We are incredibly grateful.

The area is still without power, and current estimates suggest it could be 2–3 weeks before power is restored. While that certainly creates some challenges, we’re already working on creative solutions to keep our dogs active and engaged in the meantime. We’re exploring field trips and holding classes at various locations while power is being restored.

The power outage is ultimately a small interruption, and we are truly thankful that we came through the Hawk Fire with our facility intact when so many of our neighbors were not as fortunate.

Our hearts go out to everyone in our community who has been more directly impacted by the fire. ❤️ We’re incredibly grateful for the support, patience, and kindness we’ve received during this difficult time.

❤️ Hawk Fire Update 8/24

We have another update on the Hawk Fire and the status of RDS.

RDS remains without power and inaccessible due to evacuation zones, ongoing fire activity, and severe fire damage in the surrounding area. We were able to get four of our campers home to their families this morning, but we remain evacuated at this time.

🔴 RDS will be closed at least through Thursday. We’ll continue to provide updates as we know more. 🔴

We are cautiously optimistic based on reports that the RDS building itself remains standing. However, we won’t truly know whether there has been any damage until we are permitted to return and assess the property.

Most importantly, all of our dogs and humans have been accounted for and are safe. ❤️ We are incredibly grateful for that and appreciate everyone’s continued patience and support while we navigate this situation.

❤️ RDS Update

Our first priority is always the safety of the people and dogs in our care. We’re relieved to share that everyone (humans and animals) has been safely evacuated and accounted for.

At this time, we do not have access to the RDS building and unfortunately do not know the current status of the facility or what we will be returning to.

🔴 For now, all classes and camp are canceled Monday and Tuesday.🔴

Please watch for additional updates regarding the remainder of the week as we learn more.

Many of our mentors and members of the RDS team have also been directly affected by the Hawk Fire. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and kindness as our community navigates this situation. We’ll share information as soon as we have it.

We are closely monitoring the situation with the Hawk Fire and have several plans in place should the fire spread closer to RDS.

Fire crews are on the scene and are doing everything they can to contain the blaze, and we are extremely thankful for their hard work and dedication.

🌊 Summer adventures are still going strong at RDS Adventure Day Camp!

While our Adventure Campers typically spend their days exploring on hikes and field trips, summertime means making the most of the warm weather, and that includes pool time! ☀️🐾

There’s nothing quite like a little swimming, splashing, and playing with friends to make the most of these last warm days before Fall sets in.

👃 Scent work is on the agenda at RDS Enrichment Day Camp!

Our enrichment campers are getting introduced to scent work, a fun activity that gives dogs a chance to use one of their most powerful senses while working their brains.

The best part? You don’t need a ton of equipment, so it’s an easy activity to practice at home or even take with you on the go. Scent work is a great way to bond with your dog, build confidence, and give them a serious mental workout. 🐾

A tired brain is a happy brain!
