Nokomis Lamp display from RWCS annual convention of 2005. A thundering round of applause for all displayers! I don't think most people appreciate the amount of time, effort, work & creativity goes into doing these displays. They are so educational, add so much to every convention, & one of the things at convention I most look forward to seeing!

Thanks to all the Iowa Antique Bottlers for their invitation to share their meeting space with the RWCS Iowa Chapter yesterday at the wonderful Colfax Historical Society Museum in Colfax, IA. Thanks also to its President & leading local historian/guide Kevin Williams & wife Belinda for their hospitality. The few pics I'm sharing here are a paltry example of what one can see in the museum. Come & visit yourself! They also have a gift shop from which I was able to purchase a lovely afghan picturing all the different Mineral Bottling Works & Hotels located there. Obviously, a highlight of the museum as well as the "Show & Tell" at the meeting was Colfax Mineral Water Stoneware pieces. Will make a separate posing of some of the museum pics.

Saturday Saturday Saturday!!

Attention to anyone interested in coming or becoming a member of the Iowa Chapter… our next meeting will be in conjunction with Iowa Antique Bottlers group tomorrow, Saturday, September 12th 10 am to 3 pm at the Colfax Historical Society Museum in Colfax, Iowa. There will be a pot-luck lunch with a meat dish provided, so please bring a side dish to share. Theme of the meeting is "Colfax Stoneware from Red Wing" Should be a great meeting. Hope to see all of you there! Details in the last newsletter.

One of my favorite sections of the Red Wing Museum is the "Molds Diorama" showing how various pieces are made. I was astounded to see how many different molds were required to make the two cowboys! Guess that explains why so few were made.
