BEHOLD! If you’re looking for one movement that does more than just build your chest, give this one a shot.

This variation lights up the chest while also challenging the lats and the serratus anterior, aka the muscles that help stabilize your shoulder and wrap around your ribcage.

🧠 A quick reminder though. More range of motion isn’t automatically better. Only go as deep as you can while staying in control and keeping your shoulders comfortable. If you feel your shoulder complaining at the bottom, shorten the range.

One other tip. Use a dumbbell that’s compact if possible. Bigger dumbbells tend to hit the floor before you’ve reached your natural end range, cutting the movement short.

💯 Simple setup. Minimal equipment. Great stretch. Plenty of muscle working. It’s one of those exercises that’s easy to add into almost any upper body workout.

💪 The gym builds your body. Rest reveals it.

🥱 Muscles recover. Hormones reset. Your mind clears. Progress doesn’t just happen during the workout. It happens after.

🧠 Scripture reminds us that even God made room for rest. Maybe we should stop treating it like a weakness.

👊 Train hard. Rest intentionally. Repeat. Happy Sunday

Life will always get busy. There will always be work deadlines, family responsibilities, unexpected problems, and things competing for your time and energy. If your commitment to your goals depends on everything being perfectly calm and convenient, then you’ve built your success on a fragile foundation—one that crumbles the moment real life kicks in.

Every time you choose to delay action until the “perfect time,” you’re reinforcing a habit of postponement. You’re telling your mind, “I only work when it’s easy.” But progress doesn’t come from ideal conditions. It comes from discipline in the messy, overloaded, stressful moments.

By showing up when it’s hard, like when you’re tired, overwhelmed, or uncertain, you teach yourself resilience. You build grit. You prove to yourself that your goals matter even when life doesn’t cooperate.

So don’t wait for more time. Make use of the time you have. Even small, imperfect actions taken consistently will carry you further than waiting for the stars to align.

Because the truth is, life won’t slow down. But you can get stronger, more focused, and more committed. And that starts today.

The thing with the hack squat is that you want to bring your heels as far back down on the platform to your butt as you can, until theyre almost starting to lift at the bottom. That way you can still get a ton of pressure off your heels, generate a ton of force, recruit a ton of fast twitch motor units in your legs but at the same time, you get the biggest bend in your knee and get the biggest stretch underload on your quads as possible.

Full ROM and slow eccentrics are cool and all when you train your upper body, but there is something significantly more diabolical when you train your legs in this format. You can’t let your focus waver. You have to stay Adderall’d In, so to speak, and I don’t take that but it makes the point vivid as heck so we’re rockin with it. To control your eccentrics to your FARTHEST pain free end ranges, maybe even pause there, WITHOUT sacrificing tightness or body position, and then stealthily rock out of the bottom, and repeat that over and over again is NOT for the faint of heart and not for the simple minded.

You wanna half squat your 315 or make excuses why you won’t pause at the hardest point simply because deep down you know you’re not as strong as you think you are? Okay, your secret is safe….not. You can go sit over there.

Getting your s**t together requires a new level of honesty with yourself. There is nothing easy about realizing you are the one that has been holding yourself back this entire time.

Whether this be life goals, health and wellness goals, physique goals; the deciding factor in the game of life is you.

Having a plan for your most likely situations is one of the biggest shortcuts to success.

The plan doesn’t have to be a detailed blueprint for every possible scenario. It doesn’t mean eliminating all spontaneity or decision-making. Sometimes a plan is a roadmap; and other times, it’s simply a set of rules that guide you when life gets messy.

Think of it as a collection of “if-then” statements.

IF I don’t have time to pack lunch, THEN I already know three nearby places where I can get a healthy, convenient meal.

IF I have to grab food on the go, THEN I skip the fries and stick to the diet soda.

IF someone brings donuts or pizza into the office, THEN I can enjoy one serving without guilt and move on.

Remember that the goal isn’t perfection. The goal is removing unnecessary decisions in moments when willpower is low. This is the key.

When you’ve already decided how you’ll handle common situations, you move through life with more confidence and less stress. You stop relying on motivation and start relying on systems you’ve built for situations or seasons. Instead of worrying about getting hijacked by your impulses, you already know what you’ll do when temptation shows up.

Programming your workouts is not a difficult thing to achieve. As long as you check these 3 boxes you’ll be set:

1) Warm Up
2) Resistance Training
3) Cooldown with Stretching

Sometimes other elements will take over depending on what you are training for but checking these off is a great place to start, especially for newbies. And hey, if you don’t know what you’re doing and why, we are more than happy to coach you 😉
