2026 Kentwood Summer Doubles Season 39 Results After party/ Awards “Banquet” were held this past Friday 8.28.26 at Ruckus Pizza Mission Valley, our long time Ace level sponsor. Ty Joel Fox and the ruckus staff for another great year.

The weather was a perfect summer evening, and the attendance was excellent as most all the Hooligans who played the final week came out to show support.

Big shout out to one of our younger hooligans Nate Miller (son of Adam Miller) he recently underwent a very serious brain surgery this past week so we wanted to wish him well, everyone who attended signed a special s39 KWSD disc and presented it to his pops with a card to wish him a speedy recovery !!:) Hope you are back on the course soon Nate!!

We had a basket throw off and raffle, the shot was about an 80ft put down the narrow corridor infront of Ruckus and the Dollar store, a pretty tough putt.

Out of a few hundred shots , only 2 made it, Jerry and Logan Koning, father and son. Rather than a fight to the death to determine the winner, since the basket was going to the same place they elected to share the win. Who will eventually claim ownership of the basket I wonder? Ha .

The KWDGC is taking a few weeks off, our next event is an upcoming work/fun day on Saturday September 19th. First we work, we are going to spread mulch and rocks in some eroding areas of the course, then we eat some free pizza and play a round of metal mando madness. HOpe you can make it out. The work starts at 9am the round starts around 11:30 so if you can’t make the work day you can still join us for metal mando madness which is a very fun event. Volunteers have free lunch and entry to the metal mando madness, $10 for non volunteers and no pizza :P. $100 in donated prize money to the winners.

2026 Kentwood Summer Doubles Season 39 Week 19, Season Finale, supported by Innova, was held this past Friday 8.28.26

The weather cooperated nicely for the final night, It was low 80s, a little bit humid, a little bit cloudy, a little bit breezy, but w/ no rain, so all in all a whole lot of perfect disc golf weather.

The attendance was a most excellent 90 Hooligans !!

The Kentwood Disc Golf Club ship felt like home again as our retired commander Jim Markov came to visit and say few words to wish us well during the final round and remind us that next year will be the 40th anniversary of KWSD!! ty Jim for 25 years at the helm!!

The ship for the final voyage of 2026 season was piloted by Capt Kirsch and Lieutenant 1st class Morie S. Newman Esquire XV wearing as many hats as humanly possible, and ensign Dr. “Cinco” David Benson Sr. XIII on leaderboard and team assignment + comic relief. Ok enough nauticle references jeze....

This week’s winner was long time beloved veteran Chadpole Crisco taking down his first KWSD win shooting a a near perfect -17 w/ partner Evan Lawrence. The rest of the field shot great, 4 teams were at -16, 5 -15s, 5-14s and 5-13s to round out the last cash.

The Ace pool of $90 was not hit so we had an epic and unique throw off at Ruckus utilizing is a 150 ft grassy strip between the side of the building and a large retaining wall bordering centennial pkwy,Into an abandoned shopping cart lol. We had brought an actual basket but who could pass up the opportunity to throw into an abandoned shopping cart!!! Right.? Unfortunately, no one hit the shopping cart ace , but Mr. Andrew Kirk slid under the cart for the 1st place ctp 70% of the pool for $63 and 2nd closest Dr. Cinco David Benson took the remaining 30% i.e. $27.

The Bag o’ Bucks (BOBs) on #18 was won by Ryan Hines for $45 and #9 Ab for $45.

2026 Kentwood Summer Doubles Season 39 Week 18 , supported by Innova, was held this past Friday 8.21.26

It was low 80s and a bit muggy pre round as a large storm front was moving through the area, but as per usual the “Kentwood Forcefield” persisted and all bad weather that the fair weather fans were so concerned with quickly went around the course. The front actually brought a nice cool breeze with a cloud cover during the round which made it one of the nicest rounds weather wise of the summer. Not a drop was felt during the round, but we did catch the tail end of the front as a little rain hit during our last cash throw off, served them right for being last cash... That little shower finished after 2-3 minutes, just long enough to give these disc golfers their first rinse of the week.

The attendance was a paltry 54, but of the tried and true veteran Hooligans, fair weather hooligans stayed home.

This week’s winner was the 2x season champ Ben Jeffreys who all but closed the door on his competitors for the 2026 season title shooting a perfect -18, with partner Paul Stroud. Amazing shooting Mr. League of Clutch Jeffreys!!

FUTURE CARD REQUESTS PLEASE SUBMIT ONE PAYMENT FOR ALL REQUESTED PLAYERS, FIGURE OUT WHO IS PAYING AND DIVY IT UP BETWEEN YOURSELVES.

(as we lose daylight each week we need to trim registration time, and it really slows things down a-lot during registration if one person requests another person who is not in attendance, or doesn’t show. As well it can create a callie or ghost player situation. Because If we add them before they register and then they later register in person it make 2 leaderboard stickers as typically one person processes online registration and another handles onsite registration… to avoid this possible scenario, it would be helpful if future card requests paid for all requested players in one submission, yes people could still not show up, but they would likely message their buddy to alert them and then their buddy could alert registration, this would be better since with everything going on during registration it is difficult to process follow up messages in threads which don’t always move the post back to the top as unread,..)

Lastly, take a screen shot of the pmt. Confirmation for the registration post (** Pro Tip 1, copy the message portion of the venmo text before finalizing your pmt so you can use it later when you message the page to avoid having to retype the message).

2nd Message the face book page to register, paste your venmo text or retype your FULL NAME + DIVISION, + CARD REQUEST (if you have a card request) + the FULL NAME + DIVISION of anyone you are paying as well as the amount paid . Yes this is redundant with the venmo pmt. Screen shot, but really helps us process the request quickly as the screen shot is harder to read and requires another click and enlarging the photo vs. reading the larger message text much more quickly. Also the duplicate text entry makes you proof your submission to ensure you are placed in the correct division with correct card request .

It really slows things down a-lot during registration if one person requests another person who is not in attendance, or if their requested has reqeusted someone else, or the requested /requestor doesn’t show,

If this happens a few times it can push our starting time out from 6pm sharp which is 100% always the reason we don't start precisely at 6pm sharp... Also, this may cause a callie or ghost player situation if we register the card requested person who has not yet registered they later shows up and registers in person, this may create 2 leaderboard stickers for the same person, as typically one person processes online registration and another handles onsite registration so the walk up would not see their name on a sticker of the online registrants… to avoid this possible scenario, the best solution is for card requests to pay for their requested players in one submission. Yes their card requested person(s) could still not show up and create callies, but they would likely message their requestor to alert them and then their buddy could alert registration, and we could edit the pairing. As it stands, it is difficult to process follow up messages in threads as they for some reason don’t always move back to the top as unread... i.e. they stay buried 30 or 40 messages down essentially unfindable in all the rush and hoopla of registration,..) So if you register online and have to cxl best to send a new message in hopes of it being more likely to be seen, or better yet call Mike Kirsch directly 919 792 8771 to confirm "de"registration....We often stop looking at the message thread clsoe to 6pm because registration should be complete by 5:45 but we give some leeway there.

with all that said,

In summary, it really helps us process the request quickly if the registration message lists the information as the screen shot is harder to read, requires another click and enlarging the photo vs. reading the easier to see larger message text, as well venmo pmt. confirmation has 2 screen formats and one verson often leaves the message information off.

2026 Kentwood Summer Doubles Season 39 Week 17 , supported by Innova, was held this past Friday 8.14.26

The weather over all great for summer disc golf, mainly being it was not storming with gusty windy and lightning... It was however hot, high 80s, humid with humidity likely higher than the temperature, and with not one iota of wind, but at least it was a bit overcast so the sun was not beating down on us. All in all great disc golf weather!!

The attendance was a light 74 Hooligans, but hopefully with NCSU move in this past week we will have a full assortment this comign friday 8.21.

The Kentwood Disc Golf Club was piloted by Capt Kirsch, ensign Dr. “Cinco” David Benson Sr. XII, and Lieutenant 1st class Morie S. Newman Esquire XIII.

Because If we add them before they register and then they later register in person it make 2 leaderboard stickers as typically one person processes online registration and another handles onsite registration… to avoid this possible scenario, it would be helpful if future card requests paid for all requested players in one submission, yes people could still not show up, but they would likely message their buddy to alert them and then their buddy could alert registration, this would be better since with everything going on during registration it is difficult to process follow up messages in threads which don’t always move the post back to the top as unread,..)

ONLINE REGISTRATION PROTOCOL

Venmo pmt to KWDGC- screen shot the pmt.+ Names +Divisions+Card Request
MESSAGE THE KWDGC page- post your screen shot and message text

1st VENMO PAYMENT TO KWDGC, PLEASE TYPE YOUR FULL NAME AND DIVISION +(If you are making a card request) type the words “CARD REQUEST” then type their FULL NAME AND DIVISION, if you are paying for multiple people without a card request, don’t add the words Card Request. Lastly, take a screen shot of the pmt. Confirmation for the registration post (** Pro Tip 1, copy the message portion of the venmo text before finalizing your pmt so you can use it later when you message the page to avoid having to retype the message).

2nd Message the face book page to register, paste your venmo text or retype your FULL NAME + DIVISION, + CARD REQUEST (if you have a card request) + the FULL NAME + DIVISION of anyone you are paying as well as the amount paid . Yes this is redundant with the venmo pmt. Screen shot, but really helps us process the request quickly as the screen shot is harder to read and requires another click and enlarging the photo vs. reading the larger message text much more quickly. Also the duplicate text entry makes you proof your submission to ensure you are placed in the correct division with correct card request .

NOTE regarding CARD REQUESTS; PLEASE MAKE ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE FIRST CONFIRMED THAT THEY WILL BE ATTENDING. (Don’t just put down a name without confirming as that person might not be attending for whatever reason)
