Thank you Jesse from Spectrum News 1 North Carolina

It’s a long one, but it’s from the heart! Or you can just watch the video 💕

As a mom, I’m incredibly proud of everything Phoenyx has accomplished, both on and off the track. But listening to her tell her story and openly talk about being bullied hit me harder than I expected.

It’s not something Phoenyx has shared much about publicly. Her inner circle knows the details. We know what she went through. But outside of that circle, very few people truly know how much she had to endure just to keep doing something she loved.

You only hear a small piece of that story in her interview, but hearing her say it out loud really got to me that day.

Because the truth is… there was a point when she hated racing.

Being bullied by a grown adult week after week will do that to you. Being intentionally wrecked — or having someone attempt to intentionally wreck you — is exhausting. Mentally. Emotionally. Physically.

But Phoenyx never took it to social media. She didn’t make posts looking for sympathy. She didn’t publicly tell everyone what was happening.

She just kept racing.

She kept showing up.

She kept making appearances for her sponsors, her track and local schools. She continued making herself and her race car available whenever someone asked. She continued supporting her home track every chance she got.

I’ve watched this girl climb out of a race car absolutely drenched in sweat and, before she even grabs a bottle of water, stop to take pictures with fans and talk to kids who are waiting to see her.

That says more about who she is than any trophy ever could.

If something happens on the track and she knows it was her fault, she will go find that driver and apologize. Not because someone tells her to, but because she genuinely feels bad.

She cares about the people around her. She cares about her fans. She cares about her sponsors and wants them to know their support means something to her.

She even climbed into a wrestling ring to support one of her sponsors AND promote her home track! 😂 If you know Phoenyx, you know just how far outside of her comfort zone that was. But she did it , and the fans absolutely loved it!

That’s the Phoenyx I get to see behind the scenes.

Racing has taught her a lot about winning and losing, but I think more importantly, it has taught her how to keep going when things are hard.

She could have walked away.

She didn’t.

She kept racing. 🩷🏁

And as her mom, THAT is what makes me the most proud.

Race was cancelled tonight at Wake County Speedway because of rain and severe storms. The boss said we still needed to come out and practice before the storms hit. Happy we did. We made some great gains.

I can’t thank my dad and the Alex Fleming Racing team enough for the amount of work they’ve put into my car this past week. 💕🏁

Two transmission failures in one week, a yoke issue, new horns, a new bumper bar, a new nose… and that’s only part of it.

It’s been long days, late nights, and a whole lot of work with hardly a break. What people see is me getting behind the wheel on race night, but what they don’t always see are the countless hours behind the scenes it takes just to get that car back on the track.

I’d say we’ve had our fair share of bad luck over the past month. 😅 At this point, I’m MORE than ready to get this monkey off our backs!

But yesterday gave us something to feel really good about.

Practice went REALLY well. We made a lot of changes to the car, but we’ve also spent a lot of time focusing on me, my driving style, what I need from the car, and what we can do differently to keep getting better. I walked away from practice feeling really good about the direction we’re headed.

Now I’m ready to get back behind the wheel and see what we’ve got. 🏁🔥

Hopefully all this hard work pays off… and that four-letter word , stays FAR away! 😂🌧️

Let’s go racing! 💕🏁
