Footage of me in the wild as I continue to hone my Olympic Weightlifting technique with Coach Tanya’s guidance.
Actually had a really good day and was able to PR both lifts, which is awesome! 🙌
When you’ve been doing the fitness things and are as old as me PRs don’t come along often.
However, with Olympic Weightlifting I’m still in my newbie gains phase. Yes, newbie because I’m doing real and proper Olympic lifting vs. CrossFit style Olympic lifting
I’ve really been enjoying learning and refining my technique with the OlyFans Barbell Club and Coach Tanya. Turns out consistency and listening to Coach does work 😂
The barbell club meets Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 9am 🕘

Bench press day 💪
One cue I hear all the time is:
“Keep your elbows at 45 degrees.”
The problem is that 45 degrees is not some magic bench press number.
Instead, look at what’s happening at the bottom of the rep.
Are your wrists stacked over your elbows?
That stacked position generally gives you a much stronger base to press from and helps you transfer force into the bar instead of fighting your own setup.
Your elbows might end up at 40 degrees.
They might end up at 50.
That’s fine.
Good positioning matters more than chasing an arbitrary angle.
Next time you bench, have someone film you from the front or slightly above your head and check your wrist-to-elbow position at the bottom.
