Richard Brasfield is a visionary creative whose work elevates the lived experiences of Black q***r and trans people in Milwaukee County. A Chicago native raised in Milwaukee, he discovered his passion for movement in middle school and honed his skills on high school cheerleading and drill teams. In 2000, he joined Dream Cheer and Dance, a competitive company that allowed him to travel nationally as a core member and choreographer. After seven years, he moved to Remix Dance Company, where he refined his craft, taught emerging dancers, and competed at major conventions like Monsters of Hip-Hop. His training under renowned choreographers such as Rhapsody and Dave Scott earned him a Monsters of Hip-Hop Scholarship, solidifying his status as a standout artist.
Recognizing his leadership and innovation, Richard transformed Remix Dance Company into Revamped Dance Company, leading it for six years and shaping a generation of Milwaukee dancers. He expanded his artistry into Milwaukee’s House and Ballroom scene, contributing to categories like vogue and bringing visibility and excellence to spaces centered on Black q***r and trans creativity. In the LGBTQ+ pageant system, Richard quickly made his mark, earning titles such as Mr. Gay Wisconsin USofA in 2023 and Mr. Five Nightclub 2024. Across every stage, he encourages others to embrace joy, creativity, and confidence, aspiring to become a widely recognized teacher, dancer, choreographer, and entertainer. Richard remains comm
