Each week during National Golf Month, we're answering a different golf question that every player has probably wondered at some point.

This week's question: What do the numbers on golf balls mean?

Most of the time, the number printed on a golf ball is simply there to help you identify your ball during a round so it doesn't get confused with someone else's.

Some specialty golf balls may include additional numbering to identify different models or compression ratings, but for most golfers, it's all about keeping track of the right ball.
