A program is only part of coaching.

I have a plan for what an athlete is going to do before the session starts. But once they start training, I’m watching what actually happens.

How are they moving? How are they handling the work? Do they need more coaching on something? Are they ready for more, or do we need to stay where we are?

Sometimes that means changing a weight, spending more time teaching a movement, adjusting something in the session, or holding a progression.

Sometimes everything goes exactly as planned.

And sometimes the plan lasts five minutes and I’m adjusting on the fly.

That’s part of coaching too.

The program provides direction. My job is to coach the athlete through what’s actually happening that day.

That’s a big part of what training at EFL looks like. And a big reason why I cap HS Performance Lab at 4 athletes per session.

Two athletes can be the same age, play the same sport, and still need different things from training.

Training history matters. Strength matters. How they move matters. What they’re already doing at school or with their team matters. The time of year matters. And what they’re ready for matters.

That’s why I don’t start with one workout and make every athlete fit into it. I start with the athlete in front of me and build from there.

As they get stronger, improve how they move, and become ready for more, their training progresses with them.

Same sport doesn’t mean same needs.

If you’re looking for training built around where your athlete is right now, send me a message or visit elitefitnesslabok.com to learn more.

Kaylee and Rylee came to EFL after ACL surgery and physical therapy, looking for a place to continue building strength and work their way back toward the demands of basketball.

When I asked their parent what she was looking for when they started, she said:

“Coach to truly understand the twins complexities of their recovery.”

And when I asked what has stood out:

“When both of my twin daughters tore their ACLs. Finding a coach who truly understood the complexities of their recovery was our top priority. From day one, Coach Austin provided the precise guidance they needed to safely strengthen, rebuild mobility, and heal.”

She described Kaylee as “Much stronger,” and Rylee as “Getting stronger everyday.”

She also shared:

“Austin’s targeted training has been essential not just during the vulnerable recovery phase, but also in building the foundation to ensure they continue to improve and stay strong moving forward. Beyond his technical expertise, Coach Austin’s encouragement has given my girls their confidence back.”

The girls are still putting in the work every week. They’re moving better, getting stronger, building confidence, and continuing to work toward the demands of basketball. There’s still work ahead, and each of them is progressing at her own pace.

Their parent summed up their experience better than I could:

“If you are looking for a dedicated coach to help your athletes recover and level up, I cannot recommend Austin and Elite Fitness Lab enough!”

What does Elite Fitness Lab offer?

EFL has different training options depending on where you or your athlete are right now.

Performance training ranges from Youth Lab through high school performance and adult strength. Mobility and recovery services provide additional options for movement, mobility, and recovery support.

Return-to-Performance is for athletes who have completed rehab and have been medically cleared, but still need to build back toward the strength, movement, and performance demands of their sport.

Not sure where to start? The Movement Screen & Initial Consult gives me a chance to learn about you or your athlete, look at movement, discuss training history and goals, and recommend the right place to start.

Performance is more than lifting weights.

Strength and power matter. So do movement, mobility, and how an athlete manages the demands of training and competition.

That’s why recovery and mobility are built into the services I offer at Elite Fitness Lab.

Depending on the athlete and the service, that can include:

• Guided mobility and active movement work
• Assisted stretching
• LMT-based table work and cupping
• Recovery tools such as Hyperice X
• Individual mobility sessions
• Small-group HS Mobility Lab

These aren't replacements for medical care or physical therapy. They're different tools I can use to support an athlete’s movement, recovery, comfort, and readiness around their training.

EFL isn't just a place to lift. Performance and recovery work together.

Ry’s summer has looked a little different than most.

She tore her ACL in January and had surgery in February. By the beginning of summer, she was still only a few months removed from surgery and working her way through the process of getting back to basketball.

Since June 22, she’s completed 21 workouts at EFL and logged more than 141,000 pounds of resistance training volume.

A lot of her summer has been spent rebuilding lower-body strength, putting consistent work into her hamstrings and gradually adding more athletic movement.

Over the last several weeks, that’s included landing work, lateral movement, acceleration, braking and conditioning as she continues to progress.

She still has plenty of work ahead of her, but when you look back at where she started this summer and what she’s doing now, she’s covered a lot of ground.

Keep working, Ry.
