Klay Thompson is a special part of my childhood memories. I get super nostalgic just thinking about the days of Cougar basketball from 2006-2011. I was astounded at first by guys like Kyle Weaver, Derrick Low, and Robbie Cowgill. Then, the next few years by the likes of Aron Baynes, Taylor Rodchestie, Abe Lodwick, Marcus Capers, Reggie Moore, DeAngelo Casto, and Brock Motum. All of these guys were my boys, players I looked up to as a kid and teenager! But none of them compare to the man, the myth, the legend that is Klay Thompson.
I own exactly one NBA jersey. Can you guess whose it is? I think you can. There was no better feeling as a kid than heading out to Beasley on a Saturday night with the family, taking in the sights and sounds of the uninhibited student section, while Klay pulls up from 5 feet behind the 3 point line to nail the smoothest jumper I’ve ever seen.
Congratulations on having your number retired and raised to the rafters, Klay! You deserve it!
Now that the mushy expression of genuine emotion is out of the way, I have a challenge to issue! Klay Thompson, I challenge you to a game of one-on-one in the name of charity! This summer, my 4K for Cancer relay will finish in San Francisco. Even though I will have just finished running hundreds of miles over the span of 7 weeks, I think my legs will still be fresh enough to take you on!
Obviously, I don’t think Klay Thompson will see this. Well, not without your help! I need to get in contact with Klay Thompson and his people. If anyone knows how I can go about doing this, please send me a message to the inbox of this page! Thank you everyone and Go Cougs!
P.S. – I am still fundraising for my 4k for Cancer journey! If you feel like making a donation to help support young adults battling cancer, then please donate at this link: https://give.ulmanfoundation.org/4k-2020/BenWilson
