BYU Ballroom Dance The official page of the BYU Ballroom Dance Company Ballroom Dance students prepare for professional teaching, competition and performing careers.

With an acclaimed medalist program providing regular adjudication by national and international judge and as an accredited dance major, the ballroom emphasis allows students to receive beginning through advanced training in American and International styles of Standard Ballroom and Latin American Dance. With more than 4,000 students enrolling in ballroom dance classes each year, this university program is the largest of its kind. Students have several on-campus opportunities for performance, including the BYU and United States DanceSport Championships and the annual Ballroom in Concert. The BYU Ballroom Dance Company tours nationally and internationally and has traveled throughout Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, the South Pacific, Australia, and to the Far East, entertaining audiences of all ages. The company is the undefeated U.S. Formation Champion and has won the prestigious British Formation Championships numerous times. All courses offered in the Ballroom program are open to dance majors and non-dance majors. A ballroom minor is also available (16 credits).

We are honored to attend this prestigious competition and defend our titles as the U.S. National Amateur Latin Formation Champions🏆
We are grateful to the Embassy Ballroom Championships for allowing us to showcase our medleys! This was the competitive American debut of our new latin medley, “This Moment.” 💥
The Embassy Ball is a special place for BYU Ballroom dancers. For the past thirty-nine years, the company has been attending this competition to compete for the national title. We have many thanks to give for the people who allow formation dancing to thrive in a highly competitive world and continue to foster its growth.

We are honored to attend this prestigious competition and defend our titles as the U.S. National Amateur Ballroom Formation Champions🏆
We are grateful to the Embassy Ballroom Championships for allowing us to showcase our medleys! This was the competitive American debut of our new ballroom medley, “Le Classique.” 🦢 We were excited to perform for not only a great audience, but for one of our lovely choreographers, Alina Basyuk. Thank you to the organizers for letting us showcase the routine in beautiful California.

What a great start to our year! The 2026-27 season is just beginning! 🔥

Meet KYRA CHRISTENSEN ⭐️ | Latin Team

Kyra is from Pleasant Grove, Utah, and studying Exercise Science! 💪🧬
She’s been dancing for thirteen years and her favorite dance is The Slow Foxtrot.
When asked why she wanted to join the Touring Company she said:
“To connect with people from all over through the love of dance.” 💜
FUN FACT! 🥾Kyra loves to hike and go rock climbing! 🧗

To her teammates, Kyra says, “This is a once in a life time experience and I’m so grateful to be sharing it with the most amazing team ever. Let’s make the most out of it because when it’s done it’s done!”
