Our rodeo grounds were built for rodeo, but their purpose within this community reaches much further.

They have provided space for community events, fundraisers and First Responder outreach. Prescott Frontier Days® has also partnered with local emergency organizations so the grounds can serve as an emergency housing location for large animals during disasters.
Those are things most people may never see and hopefully, some are resources our neighbors never have to need.
But being part of a community means being there for more than its celebrations.
It means being there when someone needs a hand, a place, a resource or simply people willing to help.
That is one of the many reasons We Rodeo, We Give means so much more to us than a slogan.

Prescott Frontier Days®, Inc. looks forward to keeping the famous World’s Oldest Rodeo in the public view all year long. One way they’ve succeeded is by opening the museum every Friday during the summer. You’ll find the museum in the historic Doc Pardee rock building behind the rodeo at 840 Rodeo Drive. Hours are from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted.

Dan Rogers and his co-volunteers Rennie Anderson and Linda Stauffer have spent many hours lovingly labeling, archiving, and displaying numerous rodeo-related items, many of which are one of a kind. Rogers also offers a small, rodeo-related research library for use on site.

One artifact you’ll see is a carefully restored little girl’s beaded vest from the 1920’s with Prescott Frontier Days printed in beads upon it. The vest belonged to Dolly Carroll; she was the stunt rider for the actress Dorothy Fay Southworth. Southworth later became the wife of American country music singer and actor, Tex Ritter. The vest was graciously donated by Dolly Carroll.

Another rare artifact in possession of the museum is a 1918 buckle, donated by local historical storyteller and author Melissa Ruffner. Museum archivist Dan Rogers believes this to be the first year buckles were awarded; previously small patches were handed out. Billy Simon, a bronc rider, won that buckle. Simon is buried in the Ruffner plot at the Pioneer Home Cemetery in Prescott. Another item is an ornate saddle from 1910, used by bronc riders.
Rogers and his team also welcome donations or loans of PFD-related rodeo items that will be shared by rodeo enthusiasts during the rodeo and throughout the year.

There’s a lot that happens beyond those eight performances in the summer.
Throughout the year, Prescott Frontier Days® quietly works alongside organizations, schools, youth programs, First Responders, nonprofits and families throughout our community.

Some of that support comes through donations. Sometimes it’s the use of our facilities. Other times it’s volunteers, partnerships, sponsorships, scholarships or simply stepping in when there’s a need.
We don’t always stop to talk about those moments because giving back has simply become part of what we do.
But we do want our community to know where its support goes and the difference it helps make.

We Rodeo. We Give. And we’re proud to call Prescott home.
