Chalk. We allow chalk here at the gym because it is an important part of training IF YOU'RE A COMPETITIVE POWERLIFTER. As in you actually participate in ranked competitions. However outside of competition prep there's really no reason to use chalk, and because it makes a mess that people often don't clean up we generally discourage its use outside of that narrow use case. The money you spent on chalk could have just as easily been a pair of lifting straps that would have worked better, lasted for years, and not left a mess in the gym.
When left on equipment chalk retains water and sweat which rusts barbells, and it creates fine airborne dust that gets on every surface in the gym including the inside of our other equipment like our treadmills and HVAC. The chalk you leave behind on barbells and plates is also a nuisance to anyone else who uses that equipment after you, they probably didn't want chalk all over their hands and clothes.
While you are welcome to use chalk here, you are REQUIRED to clean up afterwards, same as any other mess you make while you're here. Rule Number 4 "Pick up after yourself and re-rack your weights." There are nylon brushes hanging next to the deadlift platform for cleaning the knurling on the barbells, a dustpan and broom next to the front desk for cleaning platforms and the floor, and spray bottles and towels for everything else.
Be safe, be clean, be kind. Thanks.
