Tikori Hill was just 9 years old when he decided he’d had enough.
He was being bullied at school; the taunts were escalating past harsh words to physical aggression, including shoving and being put in headlocks.
The Portland boy joined No Limit Pro Karate Studio. It’s fitting because he dons the nickname “Little Warrior,” a nod to his heritage as a descendant of Blackfeet war chief Lone Walker.
In just over a year of practicing, the 10-year-old recently landed a spot on Team USA for a competition with the World Karate and Kickboxing Union in Berlin this summer.
“I had to learn to defend myself,” Tikori said. “It makes me feel ready for anything that happens, and so I don’t have to worry about anything.”
