Bring a Friend Update: ONE spot left.
We had one person drop out, which means we now have one spot available for Bring a Friend.
Saturday, September 12th at 8:30 AM
This event supports Active Children Portland (ACP), a local nonprofit providing free after-school sports, education, and mentorship programs for underserved kids.
Heres what your and our donations can provide:
$15 equipment one child needs for an entire season.
$65 helps cover background checks and training for a coach-mentor.
$1,000 can provide an after-school team with a full season of recreational game days.
$2,000 fully funds a coach-mentor working with 15 kids for a 10-week program.
The goal of Bring a Friend is pretty simple: give your friend a great experience at Woodslawn.
They’ll learn something new, get coached, move well, and experience what thoughtful coaching actually feels like.
What they will not do:
Get absolutely demolished, spend the last 10 minutes groveling on the floor, and leave wondering why you brought them.
That’s not really our thing.
If you’ve got someone who has been curious about Woodslawn, this is a pretty great way to show them what we’re about.
One spot left.

A few weeks back Head Coach and Dr. Ty took our amazing team through coaching specifics of sled push/pull and Ski Ergs.
Why?
Well, if you’re out of the loop, Thursday has shifted toward a more HYROX-style training day:
Longer efforts- 30 +minutes of continued fitness
Different movements-Think sleds, ski erg and volume
And if you want to tell us you like the change…
Show up Thursday. Coaches Maria, Anna and Ty would love to see you!

“I not fit enough to start.”
We hear this all the time in our consults.
And honestly, we get it. Most people picture what they see online: competition workouts, handstand walks, and people barely surviving workouts.
That’s not Woodslawn.
Most of our members are just people looking to get a little stronger, stay lean, clear their head, and be part of a community that actually notices when they walk through the door.
We can't wait to meet you

Betsy started working out with Dan in the fall of 2018. At the time, they were neighbors and one day she wandered over while Dan and a few others were training.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“CrossFit,” Dan told her.
“I want to do CrossFit!” Betsy replied.
One of Betsy’s very first goals was simple but important: she wanted to be able to lift her own bag into an airplane’s overhead bin. At the time, traveling made her nervous because she couldn’t do it.
Today? She does it with ease.
After every workout, Betsy would take a short walk to cool down. A tradition that eventually became known around Woodslawn as a “Betsy Walk.”
Our newest T-shirt is a celebration of Betsy’s dedication, strength, consistency, and overall badassness.

Small group strength or CrossFit?
Different programs. Same goal: helping you get stronger, fitter, and more capable with great coaching.
Small group looks a lot like personal training with a few other people in the room.
Sessions are capped at 5–7 people and follow structured 8-week strength cycles. Your coach knows what you're working on, adjusts movements and weights for you, and has plenty of time for individual coaching.
It’s a great fit if you enjoy a smaller environment, want a little more individual attention, and want strength to be the primary focus of your training.
CrossFit gives you a little more variety, a larger group, and a mix of strength, skills and conditioning.
You’ll still have a coach guiding the entire session, adjusting movements when needed and helping you progress. You’ll just see more variety and, at times, a little more intensity.
It’s a great fit if you enjoy training with a community, like learning new skills, and want to develop both strength and conditioning.
One isn’t the “advanced” version of the other.
And no, you don’t need to get in shape before starting either one.
That’s sort of our job.

Our September 12th Bring a Friend event had 12 spots.
Eleven are gone.
This time around we are supporting Active Children Portland, and your donation can make a huge difference in a kids after school opportunities:
⚽ $15 helps a child join a team
🏀 $25 can provide a ball
👕 $125 can outfit 15 kids with uniforms
ACP provides Portland kids with access to movement, mentorship, and after-school programming, at no cost to participating families or schools.
And your friend?
They’ll get a great workout, learn something new, and experience what it’s like to actually be coached.
Not the kind of workout where they’re lying on the floor afterward reconsidering your friendship.
If you want the last spot drop us a DM or chat with a coach
But, don't delay. When its gone, its gone!

This is Graham.
You’ll find him here at 5 AM Monday through Wednesday, 10 AM Friday, and often on the weekends.
He and his wife both work. They have two very young kids. His schedule looks like what you’d expect with two careers and two kids.
And he’s had an amazing transformation since joining us.
Oh, and somehow he still holds the gym deadlift record. So there's that.
Graham is a great example of something we believe strongly at Woodslawn:
The best training program isn't necessarily the hardest one. It's the one that fits your goals, your life, and that you can consistently show up for.
Well done Graham, well done!
