SENIOR SUNDAY!
Sofia
Sofia danced at CBA for 12 years. Throughout her time she has had the opportunity to perform in many productions, her favorite roles being Snow Queen in the Nutcracker, and Beary, who has made appearances in many of CBA’s productions.
Sofia graduated with Honors from Adrienne C. Nelson High School. She was a key club member, played on the golf team, and senior year did marketing for Junior Achievement and Lazy Days Brewery. In the fall, Sofia will be attending Colorado State University where she plans to earn her BFA in Dance while double majoring in Business.
Sofia would like to thank Amy Werner for all of her support, creative physical therapy exercises, making her work on days she didn’t feel like it, and being right by her side through all of her injuries.
She is grateful to have had the opportunity to teach so many kids at CBA, but would especially like to thank the current Ballet 5 class for filling her final year with laughs and memories. Helping with the Children’s shows and teaching at CBA has played such a meaningful role in Sofia’s life over the past years and is going to be missed immensely.
She would like to thank CBA for all of the memories made and lifelong friendships created. Sofia would like to thank Tracie for the endless laughs and memories created during shows and at the studio, Anna for always believing in her and for always being able to put a smile on her face, and Ms. Susan for being a person she looks up to as both a human and as a dancer, and teaching her how to add artistry in her movement.
Sofia would especially like to thank Ms. Sarah; without her constant support she would not be the person she is. Sofia will be forever grateful for all of the opportunities Ms. Sarah has provided her, for checking in on her when times got tough, the pep talks, hugs, and going to large extents to make sure her feet are turned out and her knees are straight.
CBA will not be the same without Sofia – her dancing, teaching, humor, perseverance, hundreds of times being Beary on stage, her love and tears, have deeply impacted all of us. We know she will be a huge success in college and after. Best wishes Sofia!

SENIOR SUNDAY!
Kandis
Kandis has been dancing at CBA since she was 8 years old. Throughout her time, she has learned the value of hard work, dedication, and being a supportive friend and community member. She has cherished her time at CBA and is incredibly grateful for the opportunities it has given her, including getting to dance Peacock in The Nutcracker. CBA also helped open the door for her to attend a Cirque du Soleil and Joffrey Ballet summer intensive in Las Vegas. This year Kandis is graduating from Cleveland High School. She plans to take a gap year to continue to grow both as a dancer and a person before attending cosmetology school, specializing in special effects and theatrical make up.
Kandis is so thankful for the many people who made her years at CBA so meaningful. First, she would like to thank Ms. Susan for always supporting her dreams and encouraging her to be her very best. She would also like to thank Ms. Candalee for helping her fall in love with ballet at just 8 years old, and Stephen from Cascadia Ballet Project for always capturing such amazing photos. Lastly a special thanks to Ms. Sarah for believing in her and encouraging her to always keep going.
Kandis is deeply grateful for her family. To her mom, thank you for being the best backstage mom anyone could ask for. To her sister Zoe, thank you for being her biggest fan, spending countless hours backstage helping with quick changes, and always supporting her through show week stress. To her dad, thank you for never missing a performance and for the endless supply of pointe shoes. And to her grandparents, thank you for always making the trip to Portland to cheer her on at every show.
CBA will always hold a special place in Kandis’ heart. Through dance she has learned patience, resilience, confidence, joy and perseverance. She will deeply miss the family and home that CBA has been to her for so many years.
CBA will miss Kandis’ beautiful dancing, shy yet bold spirit, warm heart, perseverance, strength, and how she is always the best smelling dancer in the room 😂. We know she will go on to to create art and beauty in all that she does. Best wishes Kandis!
