Strength training isn’t optional after 60 — it’s essential.

If you’re over 60, aim for at least 3 strength training sessions a week. That frequency is enough to trigger real, lasting change: it slows bone density loss and helps protect against osteoporosis, rebuilds the muscle mass we naturally lose with age, and keeps joints stable and mobile so everyday movements — stairs, groceries, getting up off the floor — stay easy instead of effortful.

The muscle and bone you build in your 60s and beyond is directly tied to independence later: stronger muscles mean better balance and fewer falls, and denser bones mean fewer fractures if a fall does happen.

It’s never too late to start, and it’s one of the highest-leverage things you can do for your long-term health.

Move Well Healths Longevity Program was designed to take the guesswork out of your exercise routine. Each week you get 3 workouts carefully designed for folks over 60 that you can do anytime, anywhere.

“I walk every day.”

That’s wonderful—and you should keep doing it.

But here’s the truth: walking alone isn’t enough to keep you strong as you age.

After age 60, we lose muscle and bone at a faster rate. If we don’t challenge our muscles with resistance, everyday tasks like getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, carrying groceries, or catching ourselves during a stumble become more difficult.

Walking is excellent for your heart, circulation, and mental well-being. But it doesn’t provide enough resistance to significantly build muscle or maintain the bone density needed to help prevent osteoporosis.

Strength training does what walking can’t.

✔️ Builds and preserves muscle
✔️ Strengthens bones by placing healthy stress on them
✔️ Improves balance and stability
✔️ Reduces the risk of falls and fractures
✔️ Helps you stay independent and active for years to come

You don’t have to lift heavy weights or spend hours in a gym. Two or three sessions a week using dumbbells, resistance bands, weight machines, or even your own body weight can make a remarkable difference.

The goal is to be strong enough to enjoy your life.

To get off the floor if you fall.
To hold your grandchildren.
To travel without worrying about your balance.
To keep doing the things you love—on your own terms.

So yes, keep walking.

But don’t forget to train for strength. Because as we age, strength isn’t just about fitness—it’s about freedom.

The Longevity program gives you everything you need to start your strength training journey. Each month you get three strength training sessions a week that you can do anytime and anywhere. You will watch your strength increase throughout the month and feel more confident in your movement. Ready to sign up? Click the link in the bio to get started.
