Last weekend, we had an incredible learning experience with Adaptive Athlete Experience!

It was great to not only learn how we can become better coaches for adaptive athletes, but also to be put in their shoes and experience some of the challenges they may face during training. Elina from AAE was an amazing coach and brought so much knowledge, patience, and perspective to the seminar. I’m really grateful we had the opportunity to be a part of it.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to CrossFit Arrow. Jess, her coaches, and her members were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home.

Something people might not realize is that gyms don’t always work together. There can sometimes be this idea that every gym nearby is competition—but Jess and I are trying to break down that barrier.

At the end of the day, it shouldn’t just be about how much money you can make from someone. It should be about helping people stay active, healthy, and find a community that fits them. StarrFit and CrossFit Arrow might train differently, but Jess and I both lead with our hearts and truly appreciate every person who walks through our doors.

And finally, thank you to all of my trainers who came to the seminar! I really appreciate you taking the time to learn, grow, and become better coaches for the people we serve.

We learned a ton, and I’m definitely looking forward to working with CrossFit Arrow again soon!

This is a great opportunity to learn more about coaching and supporting adaptive athletes so we can continue making fitness more accessible for everyone in our community.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Tri My Best Triathlon - Kenosha, WI, and it was such an incredible experience!

I had the privilege of running alongside two athletes—one was 7 years old and the other was 18—and both of them did an amazing job. Their determination, excitement, and positive attitudes made the entire day so much fun. We even got rained on toward the end of the second race, but that didn’t stop us. We kept moving and crossed the finish line together!

Working with Special Olympics Wisconsin and members of the IDD community has taught me an important lesson: movement is for everyone. No matter what challenges someone may face, every person is capable of moving, growing stronger, reaching goals, and experiencing the pride that comes with accomplishing something difficult.

Sometimes people just need an opportunity, encouragement, and someone willing to believe in them. I’m incredibly grateful that I got to be part of this event and share the experience with two awesome athletes!

I wrote a blog about why weightlifting and running should go hand in hand—and how we can all benefit from including a little more strength training or running in our routines.

Whether you consider yourself a runner, a weightlifter, or somewhere in between, combining both can help you become a stronger, healthier, and more well-rounded athlete.

Every November, we walk or ruck in memory of my brother, Specialist Jacob H. Starr, while raising awareness for veterans living with PTSD.

This year, I decided to do something a little different by joining H.O.O.A.H.’s 14th Annual Veteran Su***de Awareness March on November 7th, the day after my brothers birthday. The march is 17.6 miles—a number representing the veterans who lose their lives to su***de each day.

Helping Out Our American Heroes (H.O.O.A.H.) is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit serving active-duty military members, veterans, and their families. They believe in strengthening overall wellness and building community through meaningful events, programs, and long-term support.

If you would like to walk alongside me, I would be honored to have you join me. If you’re unable to participate but would still like to support this incredible organization, you can donate using the link below:
