What a beautiful day to be diving in South Florida!

Conditions were excellent today, with calm seas, virtually no waves, and only a very mild current. Underwater visibility was right around 50 feet, making for some great diving.

We had a small group of very experienced divers aboard today, and they definitely made the most of it. 🦞 Lobsters were found, and our divers were also treated to some awesome South Florida marine life, including large rays and plenty of colorful tropical fish.

But days like today aren't just about what you see underwater. With a small group of experienced divers, there was plenty of great conversation, laughs, and camaraderie both above and below the surface.

Join Aqualife Divers this Saturday morning as we explore two of Pompano Beach’s most exciting wrecks: the Captain Dan and the Okinawa.

🚢 Dive Site #1: Captain Dan

The Captain Dan is a 175-foot former U.S. Coast Guard tender resting upright in 110 feet of water. The top of the wheelhouse sits at approximately 80 feet.

This wreck is known for incredible marine life, including large schools of fish, barracuda, grouper, amberjack, and occasional surprises. The Captain Dan has even hosted two separate whale shark sightings exactly one year apart!

Originally commissioned as the Hollyhock, the vessel was renamed in memory of charter-fishing pioneer Captain Dan Garnsey and sunk on February 20, 1990, as part of the Rodeo Reef.

⚓ Dive Site #2: Okinawa

Our second dive takes us to the Okinawa, a 107-foot former U.S. Army tug resting perfectly upright in 69 feet of water. The top of the pilot house rises to approximately 35 feet, making this an excellent wreck for exploration and photography.

The Okinawa features the famous Midnight Sun Dive Bar, created by artist Dennis McDonald. Divers can also explore the large opening in front of the wheelhouse, enter the engine room, and exit through the dive bar when training, certification, experience, and conditions permit.

The Okinawa was sunk by Shipwreck Park Inc. and became the 18th wreck in Shipwreck Park Pompano Beach.

🤿 TODAY’S DIVE REPORT — AQUALIFE DIVERS 🌊

Another great day underwater with Aqualife Divers! We had around 50 feet of visibility and a beautiful 87° water temperature. The slight north current made for a nice ride along the reef.

Our divers were treated to some awesome encounters with nurse sharks 🦈 and lobsters 🦞!

We did have a few thunderstorms roll through, but hey… we were already wet! 😂🌧️🤿

All in all, another great day on the water with an amazing group of divers. Warm water, great marine life, and good times—that’s South Florida diving!

What an incredible day on the water! Aqualife Divers had an amazing group of divers onboard, and Mother Nature definitely showed up for us. 🌊☀️

We were treated to calm seas, warm water, and an incredible lineup of marine life! Our divers got to enjoy encounters with 🐬 dolphins, 🐢 turtles, and 🦈 sharks throughout the day.

And for the hunters in the group… they definitely didn’t go home empty-handed! 🦞 Divers reached their lobster limits, and we even added some lionfish to the mix. 🔥
Days like this are exactly why we love what we do at Aqualife Divers. Great people, great diving, and unforgettable memories above and below the surface.
