Exciting times! Can you spot the former exterior wall when it was the furniture store? The paint is still as clear as day! And can you envision it as the bowling alley? I can! Still, my memories are of red and blue mats and kids running laps haha! So pleased to see such progress for the next round of community engagement. It may be empty now, but the good juju is palpable still. We can't wait for the new neighbors to move in and join us!

Congratulations to Midwest TKD's very own Lisa Sebok on achieving her Kyorugi IR certification!
Master Lisa Sebok would like to thank her family at home and her extended taekwondo family for their love and support in helping her achieve this certification. She would like to give a special shout out to Master Tanya Panizzo and Master John Seiber for their support, guidance, encouragement, and lessons in taekwondo tenets, especially regarding the importance of indomitable spirit.

Lisa started refereeing at local events like the 2014 Michigan-Midwest Championships. Over the following years, she decided to pursue official certification and progressed from a D to an A level refere, seeking as many additional training opportunities and experience as her schedule would allow. A few years ago, Lisa traveled to Mexico to earn her Pan American referee certification. And just a few months ago, she traveled to Istanbul, Turkey for the opportunity to earn her WT Kyorugi International Referee.

Along the way, Lisa has discovered that the best part of Taekwondo competition is the people and relationships formed when community comes together for the sport we love. She's especially thankful for the opportunity to work alongside her daughter, Master Rebekah Sebok, who has joined in the fun of refereeing. Lisa is looking forward to new adventures as she travels further with her taekwondo friends and family.
