New beginnings start underwater. 🤿

Congratulations to our newest Open Water Divers: Kylee, Carter, Kyle Richter, Tasha, Kyle Scott, and Nathan Richter!

Six new certifications, six new divers, and a whole lot of diving ahead of them.

Kylee and Tasha also got an introduction to Girls That Scuba from our amazing Jeanette, connecting them with a global community of women who dive — because finding your dive community can be just as important as earning that first certification.

Welcome to the underwater world, everyone. This is only the beginning. 🌊

Ready to make the move to doubles?

The Doubles Primer is designed to help divers transition from a single tank to a doubles configuration, building the skills, control and understanding needed to use the system effectively.

You’ll work on equipment configuration, buoyancy and trim, valve management and situational awareness — while getting familiar with the standardized approach that underpins GUE diving.

Whether doubles are your next step or you’re thinking about taking GUE Fundamentals, this is a great place to start.

Before we introduce the new group at the lake today, here is a look at last weekend’s Open Water students!

This group trained with Barry and Autumn before completing their checkout dives with Enrique. Learning from multiple Scuba Adventures instructors gave them the benefit of different teaching styles and perspectives, all working toward the same goal: helping them become safe, comfortable, and confident divers.

Congratulations to last weekend’s group and good luck to the new students beginning their lake dives today! 🤿

DSMB Workshop 08/02/2026

DSMB deployment is one of those skills that feels simple until buoyancy, current, task loading, and team awareness all show up at once.

Our DSMB Workshop helps divers build cleaner deployment technique, better spool control, and more confidence underwater.

170 minutes underwater at The Scuba Ranch. Before certification.

Our Open Water students had a fantastic weekend, completing three 40-minute dives and finishing with a 50-minute dive.

That means they left the lake with 170 minutes of actual open-water dive time — nearly three hours of experience underwater before earning their certification.

Since the beginning, the owners of Scuba Adventures have believed that one of the best ways to develop better divers is pretty simple:

Give them more time diving.

There’s a reason the idea of 10,000 hours resonates: skills aren’t built by checking boxes. They’re built through time, repetition, practice, mistakes, adjustment, and experience.

We're certainly not getting anyone to 10,000 hours in an Open Water course, but we can make sure the first hours count.

Give students time to settle in, develop buoyancy and comfort, work with their buddy, learn from mistakes — and actually enjoy being underwater.

A certification card tells you that you've met the requirements to become an Open Water Diver.

Experience is what starts turning you into one.

Congratulations to this weekend's newest divers. You worked hard, had some great dives, and built a strong foundation for wherever diving takes you next.

And a special shoutout to That Scuba represented at the lake this weekend!

Think you have good buoyancy? Try holding perfectly still underwater at a specific depth... and don’t move a muscle.

That’s part of the bar we set in a TDI Intro to Tech class.

This past weekend was the continuation of a journey that started back in January for four divers. They were introduced to the skills, given feedback, and then given something equally important: time to practice.

They came back ready to demonstrate that practice.

Intro to Tech isn’t about going deeper. It’s about building the foundation needed before moving into technical diving: precise buoyancy, trim, propulsion, situational awareness, equipment management, teamwork, and the ability to maintain control while performing skills.

Four students worked hard, practiced, returned, and earned their successful completion of Intro to Tech.

And there was another milestone this weekend.

Instructor Barry completed his evaluation with Instructor Trainer Jenny Lord and was signed off to teach TDI Intro to Tech. Congratulations, Barry!

Great diving isn’t built by rushing through certifications. It’s built through instruction, , practice, and demonstrating that you can actually perform the skills.

Want to find out how still you can really hover?

Come train with us.
