Throughout October, our NCK family will be raising money for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.

Our students had the choice of a Pink Belt or Pink NCK T-Shirt with their $20 donation — and they’ll be able to proudly wear them to class throughout October!

🥋 MEET YOUR NCK INSTRUCTORS 🥋

⭐ Meet Sensei Sean!

Sensei Sean started karate when he was only about 5–6 years old — so in many ways, he grew up right here on the mats.

Now at 25, he’s gone from being one of the kids in class to helping teach and guide the next generation of NCK students. ❤️

One of Sensei Sean’s specialties is WEAPONS, and he recently put those skills to the test himself at the IKCG Tournament, where he took 1st place AND Grand Champion in Male Black Belt Weapons! 🏆🥋

We think it’s important for our students to see that their instructors don’t just teach — they continue to train, compete, learn and challenge themselves too.

When asked which of our 5 Principles of Conduct means the most to him, Sensei Sean chose:

⭐ SELF-CONTROL ⭐

We’re lucky to have Sensei Sean as part of our NCK family and helping pass along the same lessons he began learning as a little kid himself.

It’s not always about perfect kicks, perfect stances or earning the next belt.

Sometimes it’s helping the student next to you.

Sometimes it’s finally getting something you’ve struggled with.

Sometimes it’s finding the courage to try.

And sometimes it’s simply walking through the door and having a place where you’re happy to be.

We’re proud of the family we’ve built at NCK — and we’re even more proud of the young people growing up on these mats. ❤️

We hear versions of this all the time.

Maybe your child is shy.

Maybe they have LOTS of energy. 😊

Maybe focusing is difficult.

🥋 MEET SHIHAN LEON

Another familiar face for our NCK families!

Leon started karate when he was just 4 years old — and today he’s teaching the next generation of NCK students.

As a dad himself, he understands that karate isn’t just about what students can do physically. It’s also about helping them develop confidence, discipline and self-control.

You’ll often find Shihan Leon working with our older students, instructors and adults.

His favorite of our 5 Principles of Conduct?

🎀 NCK IS GOING PINK THIS OCTOBER! 🎀

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year our NCK family is coming together to help make a difference. 💗🥋

Throughout the month of October, we will be raising money for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation.

For a $20 donation, students can choose either:

🎀 A Pink Karate Belt
OR
👕 A Pink NCK T-Shirt

And YES — you can wear your pink belt or shirt to class ALL MONTH LONG! 💕🥋

All proceeds will be donated to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation.

We’ll also have a donation tracker hanging in the dojo so our students can watch our pink ribbon fill up as we work toward our goal! 🎀

We know breast cancer has touched the lives of so many families, including people within our own communities. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach our students that being strong isn’t only about what we do on the mat — it’s also about supporting others and giving back. ❤️

Some parents are looking for an activity to help their child build confidence.
