Some vintage favorites ⬇️

Ivanko OB84 Barbell - Mine is beat to crap, but the knurling is still nice, which in my opinion is the rarity. Most vintage bars’ knurling really can’t compete with modern knurling. The chamfered inner collar edge is a dead giveaway if hunting for one of these in the wild. It’s also one of the only bars with a bolt on the end worth your while.

Marcy 25 lb Deep Dish Weight Plates - Something about the dimensions of this pair of plates from the vintage Marcy deep dish set makes them so appealing. Thick lip. Deep face. Lettering and numbering all over the place. They’re the best 25s. I have a full video on YouTube about the vintage Marcys.

York Speed Lock Collars - I also have a full video on YouTube about how much I love these barbell collars. The thick bolt doesn’t mark up the barbell sleeve, and they’re heavy! Plus, as the name implies, they’re super easy to put on and take off.

It was great to speak with at the booth at . The partnership between RepOne and PRx made sense to me and looked great. I had a chance to try out and compare the EStack to a traditional weight stack. If you blindfolded me, I truly wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference. You can see the full video with 30+ companies speaking about product development on VintageWeightsPGH YouTube.

The way your children draw you is how they see you, and I like how my children see me. It’s not from a place of arrogance, but rather just that I want a healthy lifestyle and the pursuit of strength to be normal to them. A home gym allows for my children to regularly see me working out, and of course, they come into the gym and begin their journey as well.

As you can see, this Billard deep dish 45 lb late gave me some trouble. Thank goodness I use my crash cushion!

I offloaded my Billard Barbell deep dish set a couple years ago, and I don’t think I ever hub lifted one. Fortunately, a local weight seller came across a few singles recently at a local high school selling off their old weights! I bought this Billard and a skinny script 45 off of him with the mission to hub them. The Billard hub is fairly straight, but not as a deep as 2” thick plates. This particular Billard had been repainted by a previous owner so it was a little slick.

Billard Barbell produced weights in the United States and eventually overseas through the early 1990s when they closed up shop. The Billard plates like the one in this video were produced in the United States.

This rusty York EZ Kurl Bar was a great candidate for restoration, but I already have one. And I didn’t have the time to work on it. So off it went. But what made it a good candidate? It didn’t have any pitting or permanent damage, and the sleeves both easily spun.
