For years, I've watched adults tell children things like...
"Be patient."
"Work together."
"Think before you act."
"Use your words."
But what if a child doesn't have those skills yet?
That's the question that led me to create The Do Better Bunch™.
These aren't just stories with a lesson at the end. They're stories about everyday kid problems that give children a chance to recognize themselves, think about their own choices, and begin practicing the skills that make those situations easier the next time.
Every story ends with a Do Better Bunch™ Family Guide filled with simple questions and activities that help keep the conversation going long after the story is over.
If you're a teacher, counselor, therapist, or work with children in any way, I hope these stories become another tool you can use to start meaningful conversations about executive functioning, social-emotional learning, and the real-life skills children are still developing.
As a children's coach—and now as a doctoral researcher studying executive functioning and child development—I've become convinced that behavior isn't the starting point.
Skills are.
When we help children build the skills behind the behavior, everything begins to change.
That's the heart behind The Do Better Bunch™.
I'll be adding new stories regularly, each centered on one real-life challenge children face and one practical skill they can begin practicing.
If you watch one, I'd love to know...
Which character did your child see themselves in?
