Total trainee 2028 Brooke Certo (Lincoln Park HS) does a lot of things well, with catch and shoot 3s being one of those things😎

🚨AAU Information for Spring 2027 Rosters🚨

For student-athletes, I am a pro-transfer person. I truly believe if a kid needs/wants to go elsewhere, they should be able to so without losing eligibility. I can’t imagine taking away a year of a sport from a kid😔

But also know that as a coach who built college and high school programs on loyalty and commitment, and still do that in AAU, I could never survive in today’s college basketball world. Hell, after putting in so much time, effort, care and commitment into them, I struggle whenever a player leaves our AAU program😩

So I couldn’t imagine dealing with that same stuff at a level where wins and losses matter to job security🙂‍↔️

With that said, if you’re looking to go “All In” with an AAU program that is BIG on loyalty and commitment, rather than hype, then get your player in the gym to check us out!

We do not do tryouts in our program. Instead I personally do player evaluations at our Sunday training sessions. If you are interested in being part of our Strick Hoops Family, contact us to get in for an evaluation to see if there’s a mutual fit🎯

🏀Open to boys and girls players in grades 5th through 12th🏀

Program note: While I’ll continue to coach ALL our teams in practice, with the majority of my coaching experience in College and HS being on the boys side, I will now be the Head Coach of our boys teams. Coach Marisa, who has done a great job helping us build the level of success we’ve had on the girls side over the last decade, will continue to be the head coach of most of our girls teams🔥

We are coming off one of the most enjoyable years I’ve had in 30 years of coaching, and I’m looking forward to building on that with the returning players that are “All In”, and the newcomers that will join our Strick Hoops Fam🖤💛

As we wrapped up our Summer College Workouts this week, I told them every college player I’ve ever coached…the more I saw them in offseason, the better their upcoming year was, and vice versa🏀

Example I shared was a player shot a team best 40% (60% efg) from 3 as a freshman. Never saw them again. They shot 23% from behind the arc the rest of their career🤷🏼‍♂️

I understand better marketing attracts players to other places. But I’ll always be a numbers coach to take the emotion (marketing hype) out of things. If the data shows something is working, I wouldn’t change it🎯

As I always say, make sure wherever you train that you’re getting results. Busy work, doesn’t mean quality work💯

🚨AAU Information for Spring 2027 Rosters🚨

Whether I agree with it or not, AAU tryout season is upon us...yes, for the 2027 year next spring! I know it’s 8 months before the actual season, but this is the nature of the beast nowadays😱

We do not do tryouts in our program. Instead we do player evaluations at our Sunday training sessions. If you are interested in being part of our Strick Hoops Family, contact us to get in for an evaluation to see if there’s a mutual fit!

I won't know exactly how rosters/teams will shape up. But with 50 players already committed, I do expect us to be in the same range of the last couple of years, with 10-12 teams.

As of now, no grade is completely full, so we are open to boys and girls players in all grades from 6th through 12th.

The resume is in the pic. If you want that high level of experience coaching your child, plus coaches who truly care about your child, then contact us to set up an evaluation💯

Explained a situation to our assistant executive director (Coach Marisa) about a family I’ve done so much for, but didn’t return the loyalty. It shocked her😳 She actually thought I wasn’t serious because she couldn’t believe that family could do that to me. I said, “that’s my world and why I appreciate you SO much”.

Loyalty is hard to find nowadays in the coaching world. Families want coaches to be transformational, even when so many themselves are transactional🤷🏼‍♂️

So as we start preparing our AAU rosters for next spring, I just wanted to take the time to say that I TRULY appreciate all the families, past and present, who return the loyalty that we show to their children and family. “1-2-3 All In, 4-5-6 Family”, is more than just a saying to us🖤💛

There’s a lot of “false prophets” out there that do a great job of preaching a path of gold. Unfortunately, by the time families realize what they were sold wasn’t the truth, it’s too late to turn around😔

So for the past and present families that have dealt with us as truthfully and honestly as we have with them, I want to let you know how much you are TRULY appreciated🙏 You are a rare find in today’s world and I’m truly thankful for you🖤💛

Sunday in Group Trainings, this is how we worked on “rip” (1 foot finish) and “stride stop up-and-under” (Playing off of 2). Showing the good, bad, and ugly as they learn🏀

1. Rip: Passing mattered as the Defenders could steal pass. Then driver is supposed to rip hip-to-hip below the knees, and get to rim in 1 dribble so defense can’t catch them

2. Up-and-Under: Defense now beats us to the spot, so we have to play off 2. Footwork is what we were looking for here as defender gave (very) token pressure on the move

Overall, the things they worked on in the total session were: Attacking 1 v 1, Making a read of help defender 2 v 2, Dribbling on the fast break (speed and push cross), Footwork (split catch, rip, and stride stop to up-and-under), shooting, and then finished with gameplay. Definitely a LOT for 75 minutes of training!!

🚨PROGRAM UPDATE🚨

While players with memberships have already been doing individual and small group trainings with us, today is the day that our yearly training officially starts for everyone🙌

Looking forward to welcoming back so many familiar faces, and also seeing some fresh faces in the gym🖤💛

The players that get in the gym with us are being trained by the ONLY coach in the area who has coached both men’s and women’s teams in the NCAA tournament🏀

The players that get in the gym with us are being trained by the ONLY coach in the area that has coached Conference Players of the Year in both men’s and women’s college basketball🏀

The players that get in the gym with us are being trained by the ONLY coach in the area that has been a head college coach of All-Conference players, All-American players, and has scored 1,000 points themself in college🏀

With the right environment and experience, the players in our program keep getting better and their success speaks for itself💯

A recent example is we just had a High School Select team that went out and competed in front of college coaches. In their 3 tournaments together their Assist % (% of baskets we scored off a teammates pass) was 71%🔥 To put that in perspective, I coached a college team that set school record and finished top 20 in the nation for assists. They were 54%.

That is the type of player we train and develop in our program. Those are the type of WE > ME players we are looking to train and/or play with us. So IF your child actually wants to develop in the game of basketball, and IF they are a WE > ME type person, then there’s NO better place than right here, right now to train and/or play with Strick Hoops🎯

Contact us to get in the gym with the Strick Hoops Fam!

Whenever you have the right players on the bus, good things happen🎯

Our AAU season officially came to an end with our 2027 Girls Select Team tying our program record (2025) for most wins from a Select Team💥

And they ended it the same way they ended the last tournament…with EVERYONE scoring🔥 They are truly the definition of a TEAM.

Here’s what this TEAM accomplished…

🔥Tied program record for most wins from a Select Team while at . Actually, 3 of their overall losses were by 2 pts, which shows just how close they were to holding the wins record to themselves

🔥Won our 1st ever Championship

🔥Was 1 bucket away from being 4-0 at

The 2027 Select Team was SO much fun to coach, and they will be for college coaches too💯 A VERY special group that will continue to do special things in HS and College💯

On a related note, 6 years later, I wore the same shirt on last day as an ode to the OGs🫡 Without families and players taking a leap of faith with me, and being the 1st group to do , none of the rest of it happens💯 My way of saying “Thank you” to the OGs for what they helped build🫡

We have truly been blessed with some special players/families over the years🖤💛
