Sometimes the perimeter of the body needs a little attention too.

Sunday’s workshop explores micro-asanas: subtle, targeted practices for the feet, hands, and face—areas we often overwork and overlook. Through mindful movement, gentle strengthening, and self-massage, we’ll bring awareness and care to these smaller (but mighty) parts of the body.

This workshop is ideal for anyone experiencing plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tension headaches, or repetitive stress issues, as well as for yogis who want to deepen their practice by refining awareness, sensation, and control. Expect to leave feeling more spacious, grounded, and connected from the edges inward.

The pandemic ended my 13-year Yin Yoga teaching streak. In the past few years, while teaching one class a week, I focused on my clients.

Yoga schools who teach one style or sequence have a big reason to offer teacher trainings: cheap labor. Their most loyal students shell out thousands of dollars to learn just enough to teach at one studio.

If they’re good enough, maybe they’ll get $40 a class (or even worse, free classes as barter.) They also might make these teachers sign a non-compete agreement, which means they are even more chained to the school.
