First demolition derby held July 16, 1971 during the 115th annual Perry County Fair in Pinckneyville, Illinois. Harold Pierce of Pinckneyville won the feature, driving car No. 50. With the exception of COVID in 2020, the Perry County Agricultural Society has conducted at least one derby every year since. Track Operations - Gaylen Greer

THE NIGHTMARE MACHINES RETURN:

On Saturday, October 3 at the Perry County Fairgrounds, the 30th annual Halloween Howl demolition derby will see the return of the nightmare machines as the Triad of Thunder Championship Series celebrates the spooky season.
Pit gates open at 1 p.m. with inspection to follow shortly after. Grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Driver's meeting at 5:30 p.m. and national anthem at 6 p.m.
Come and join the family; Give in to the madness; Let go of your humanity and take a bite of the darkness!

HALLOWEEN HOWL PAINT CONTEST:

Since this year has been about all things history (including a return to the '80s), the paint contest theme for Halloween Howl on October 3 will be "Classic Horror." What is classic horror? Frankenstein, werewolves, mummies, zombies, Dracula, etc.
As always, the winner will receive $100 cash and a trophy. Let's see those paint jobs at the 30th anniversary of Halloween Howl next month!
Inspection will begin at 1 p.m., driver's meeting at 5:30 p.m. and national anthem at 6 p.m.

Chief Inspector Josh Church has also given an update on Halloween Howl:

"Big cars get four plates per frame rail too," Church said.

RULES UPDATE FOR HALLOWEEN HOWL:

Per Chief Mini Inspector Shawn Eubanks, the following rules adjustments are being made for Halloween Howl on October 3:

Mini cars and mini vans are allowed 4 patch plates per side. 4x4x1/4 inch. Nothing in the frame rail.

TRIAD OF THUNDER SERIES STANDINGS AFTER TWO EVENTS:

Here are the standings in each class after two events. As a reminder, the maximum a driver can earn is 28 points per class per show (10 pts inspection + 1 track pt. + 10 pts 1st place + 7 pts Mad Dog).
The fall show, 30th Annual Halloween Howl Demo Derby, is when the game changes from checkers to chess. You know what you need to do.
