Here's the exact first move we make when we build the people's side of a clinic, and you can do it this afternoon for free.
Draw your whole company on one page. Not who's a friend, not who's been here longest. Every seat the business needs to run, top to bottom, and one name in each box. The rule of thumb: if a seat has no name, that work is landing on you. If a name is in five boxes, that person is your next burnout or your next resignation.
Then give each seat three things. The outcome it owns. The handful of numbers that prove it's winning. A short written description so the job doesn't live in your head. That's the difference between a team that asks you everything and a team that checks the board and goes.
When we onboard a new seat, that one page is where it starts, then a 90-day ramp so the person is doing real work by week two, not month three. Clarity first, then coverage. That's the whole game.

One of the biggest lessons in leadership is this:

Work on yourself more than you work on your work.

The seasons where I feel most connected, purposeful, and aligned aren’t necessarily the seasons where I’m working the most.

They’re the seasons where I’m taking care of me.

My spiritual health.
My mental and emotional health.
My physical health.
My relationships.
My growth.
My boundaries.

I’m reading. I’m learning. I’m seeking outside counsel. I’m creating space to reflect and identify the blind spots I can’t see on my own.

Because the business can only grow as much as the person leading it is willing to grow.

Be honest about what happens when you're gone for two weeks. Do the numbers hold, do the follow-ups still happen, does the front desk still run the way you'd run it? Or does it quietly slide until you're back?
If it slides, that's not a loyalty problem and it's not a work ethic problem. It's a staffing problem wearing a work ethic problem's face. It means the people side of your clinic still lives in your head instead of in a system, and every task you're the backup for is a task nobody actually owns.
That's the real cost. Not the payroll line. The fact that you can't fully leave, can't fully grow, and can't fully trust the machine, because you are still the machine.
We fix that by building the seats, the workflows, and the coverage so the people side runs whether you're in the building or not. If that's the wall you keep hitting, let's look at it together.
