Today, we honor Guru Purnima — a day of gratitude for the teachers and teachings that help us see more clearly.

A teacher is not always one particular person. Guidance can come through a practice repeated each day, a question that unsettles us, a challenge that transforms us, a tradition carried across generations, or a student who invites us to look again.

I feel grateful for every teacher who has shaped my path, for the wisdom passed down through the tradition of yoga, and for every student who steps into EKAM.
Teaching is never a one-way exchange. Every encounter changes the teacher as much as the student.

Perhaps this is one of the deepest lessons of yoga: we are never only the teacher or only the student. Throughout our lives, we continue to be both.

With gratitude to all those who guide, challenge, and teach us.

There is more than one way to practice.

At Ekam, our classes are organized around four paths:
START
Begin with clear guidance and beginner-friendly classes.
BUILD
Develop strength, mobility, focus,- and consistency through Ashtanga and Yoga & Strength.
FLOW
Move, breathe, and explore through Vinyasa.
RESET
Slow down, recover, and reconnect through Yin and Kundalini.

You do not need to choose only one path. Your practice can evolve with your energy, your goals, and what you need that day.

Start where you are.
Build steadily.
Flow with intention.
Reset when needed.

Personal guidance changes everything.

At Ekam, small-group classes give us the time to truly see each student, offer thoughtful adjustments, and help each person progress at their own pace.

This review from an Ashtanga Basics student reflects exactly what we want every student to feel: seen, supported, and guided.
Thank you for trusting us with your practice.

Why do we repeat the same sequence in Ashtanga?

Think of the sequence like a musical score.
At first, you are learning the notes — the postures, the order, and the transitions. As the sequence becomes familiar, you no longer have to think constantly about what comes next.

You stop reading the score and begin to make music.
Your attention can shift toward the breath, the quality of your movement, and the connection between each posture.

The fixed sequence also becomes a mirror.
Because the practice stays consistent, you begin to notice what changes within you. Some days you may feel strong and focused. Other days, stiff, tired, or distracted.

The sequence stays the same. You are the one who changes.
Over time, familiarity creates space for a moving meditation. Less anticipation. More awareness of breath, posture and gaze.

You do not need to know or complete the entire sequence. You begin where you are and build your practice progressively, with guidance.

At Ekam, Mysore practice and guided Ashtanga classes offer structure, consistency, and personal support.

What is Mysore practice, really?

It’s a practice you build — at your own pace, with personal guidance.
In a Mysore class, everyone practices individually while the teacher moves around the room, offering instruction, adjustments, and support.

You don’t have to keep up with the group.
You don’t need to know the sequence before you begin.

Why students choose Mysore:
•Move at your own pace
•Receive personalized guidance
•Build strength and mobility progressively
• Develop focus and consistency
•Create a practice that grows with you

Mysore can be especially helpful if you’ve ever felt lost, rushed, or overlooked in a traditional group class.
