The Leadership Lesson That Changed Everything 💡
In 2020, I signed up for a 5-month leadership training, thinking I’d learn tools to grow my business. But the real transformation? It wasn’t about business at all.
During the personal development phase, I had a wake-up call: I was pouring ALL my time, energy, and planning into growing my business... while my relationships got whatever was “left over.”
My husband. My three daughters. My friends. They were getting the scraps of my attention because of decision fatigue and the endless excuse of “I don’t have time.”
My game-changing goal: 100 hours of fun and connection in the final two months of training.
I had to actually SCHEDULE joy. Plan connection. Make time for the people who matter most.
And here’s the magic ✨ - my business numbers WENT UP! When you’re in that positive energy, truly connecting with your family and having fun, you attract more of it. Like attracts like.
Now I’m intentional about:
🌟 Set work boundaries for family evenings
🌟 Being present at dinner
🌟 Keeping weekends (mostly) work-free
It feels AMAZING.
Question for you: Are you making time for connections and relationships?
This is Key 6 of the 8 keys I teach in my corporate sessions for setting up the ideal weekly flow that helps you thrive both personally AND professionally.
Your relationships aren’t what’s left over - they’re what fuels everything else.

I am honored by the invitation to attend St. Vincent de Paul’s annual fundraiser breakfast as a table caption for 2nd year so I rallied some of my colleagues and friends to attend the breakfast with me yesterday.
When I connected with St. Vicente de Paul a couple year ago I learned that this organization is more than just a soup kitchen turned out to be a lifeline for those in need—offering services, resources, and a community that goes beyond merely providing for the homeless; they FEED. CLOTHE. HOUSE. HEAL.
Yesterday morning listened to stories from individuals directly affected by the organization. As 1,300 people gathered in a room, gratitude filled the air as these lives were profoundly touched by the resources, people, and community that helped them rebuild.
It was an organization like this that was a lifeline for my husband and me in 2008 when we lost everything. I made a promise that once we were in a stable position, I would find ways to give back and pay it forward.
I encourage you to look around and extend a helping hand to those in need. If you’re in the Phoenix area, I encourage you to take a tour of their facility, you might feel called to serve. To learn more go to http://volunteer.stvincentdepaul.net/

Today I spent the morning volunteering at the Mesa garden with my amazing friend . In a world that is fast paced it important to take time to slow down and to see the needs of those around us and within our communities.
Service & Contribution is Key 7 in the framework I teach in corporate settings.
Giving back creates meaning and perspective in ways nothing else can. Whether it’s volunteering in your community, supporting a friend, or simply asking “How can I support you?”—service enriches the giver as much as the receiver.
If you’re looking for a way to ground yourself and reconnect with what matters, I can’t recommend it enough. Find your way to give back. Start small. Start today.
What ways are you paying it forward in your community?
