Sherlockians, I have been asked to speak at the 47th Annual Sherlock Holmes at the Pratt. The event is at 11 am on Saturday, November 14th (bagels, tea, and coffee at 10:30) in the Wheeler Auditorium of the Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore (400 Cathedral Street). Parking vouchers will be available for the garage at 15 W. Franklin St.

After the program, the Maiwand Disorderlies will again convene for lunch at the Maiwand Grill at 324 W. Baltimore Street. It's about a 4-minute drive/12-minute walk from the Pratt.

April 26, 1900: the very first Sherlock Holmes adaptation, "Sherlock Holmes Baffled", is filmed by Arthur Marvin for the Biograph company in New York City. It was made to be viewed on the Mutoscope, the hand-cranked viewer found in penny arcades of the time. The film was only 59 seconds long. It wasn't copyrighted until 1903.
