Meet the Teacher!

Meet Devnie Christias! As a dedicated graduate of the Yoga's Arc Mentoring Program, Devnie has become a passionate instructor, making a significant impact on the yoga community. We're grateful for her commitment and contributions!

Here's a little bit about Devnie...

Devnie graduated from ASU in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and knew she wanted to help people in their wellness journey. She began practicing yoga during her college years and completed her 200-hour teacher training at Authentic Yoga Teacher Training in 2022.

Through her yoga practice, she recognized mind, body, and spirit as interconnected parts. She also observed as her anxieties, physical self, and everyday living blossomed.

Devnie utilizes crystal sound bowls to guide students through sound healing meditations. She aims to bring awareness to those around her as to the power of yoga and sound healing and what can be found deep within oneself.

Devnie creates an environment that is welcoming, fun, energizing, and supportive.
In her free time, you can find her spending time with her husband and 3 dogs, snowboarding, kayaking, camping, at music festivals, and traveling.

Happy Sunday Vibes, Friends!

"We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves."

How much time do we actually spend monitoring our thoughts?

We spend so much energy managing our businesses, our families, and our schedules, but we often forget to be the CEO of our own minds. We are the ones who get to decide which thoughts are allowed in the "boardroom" and which ones are fired on the spot.

If we aren't careful, we let everyone else set the agenda. We pick up messages from generational patterns, judgments from our school days, or opinions on what we "should" be doing with our future. We absorb the negativity on the radio, the noise on social media, and the stress of the world around us.

If we don't take the time to audit those thoughts, we start to become them. We become the judgment, the noise, and the negativity.

Keeping a "pure mind" isn't about being perfect; it’s about being an active gatekeeper. It’s about realizing that just because a thought pops up doesn't mean it’s true, and it certainly doesn't mean it gets a seat at the table.

This is why we practice. Yoga is our time to clear out the clutter and reclaim our position as the boss of our internal world. When we consciously shape our thoughts to be full of groundedness and grace, we don't have to chase joy. Joy becomes the natural shadow of the light we’ve chosen to live in.

Today, take a moment to look at your "thought-staff." Who are you letting run the show?

Remember, you’re the CEO. You get to decide what stays and what goes.

With love and freedom,

Kary Sinkule Founder, Yoga’s Arc

Strike a Pose: Reverse Warrior (Viparita Virabhadrasana)

Unleash your inner strength and find your flow with Reverse Warrior! Back arching gracefully and reach high—this empowering posture is all about creating space, opening your heart, and standing strong in who you are.

Why We Love Reverse Warrior:

Opens the Torso: Deeply stretches the side body, intercostal muscles, and lungs—helping you take fuller, deeper breaths.

Strengthens the Legs: Builds stability through the hips, thighs, and ankles while grounding down into the mat.

Relieves Stress: Releases tension in the spine and neck, inviting a sense of peaceful energy.

Never done yoga before? You belong here!

Yoga isn't about being flexible or perfecting every shape—it’s about taking a moment for yourself, honoring your body where it is today, and breathing through life's everyday busyness. Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the very first time or have been practicing for years, our community is here to welcome you with open arms and zero judgment.

Come as you are, move at your own pace, and let’s grow together!

Meet the Teacher!

We’re absolutely thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our incredible instructors, Kris Massey! A long-time friend and supporter of Yoga’s Arc, Kris is a valued member of our yoga community. We’re so excited that she shares her amazing gifts and passion for yoga with all of us as an instructor, helping so many people find strength, peace, and well-being on their mats!

Here’s a little bit about Kris…

Kris has been practicing yoga for over 15 years. What started as a way to de-stress after a hard workday became a lifestyle as she moved on to a regular 5am ashtanga mysore class. It took a pandemic and a hip replacement to make her finally realize she needed to pursue a long-neglected goal to complete her YTT. She completed her 200hr certification in 2021 and will complete her 300hr certification in June 2024, both with My Vinyasa Practice. She has also completed level 1 and 2 sound meditation certification through the Sound Healing Academy. She loves to collect singing bowls and other instruments, and share that love in her yoga classes. For the past two years she has been teaching a weekly class for members of her community. While she loves her little groups of yogis, she is excited to branch out and work with a wider community through Yogas Arc.

While vinyasa is her main teaching style, she has really learned to love teaching yin, restorative, and yoga nidra, weaving a little sound into all of these more restful practices.

Happy Sunday Vibes!

There is a famous quote by the Stoic philosopher Epictetus that says, “Circumstances don't make the man, they only reveal him to himself.”

It’s a deep concept to chew on, but when I look at it, I see a bit of a chicken-or-the-egg scenario. I truly believe that God places specific circumstances in our lives, from the highest peaks to the lowest valleys, to intentionally shape who He wants us to be and prepare us for our unique purpose. So, are we just revealed by what happens to us, or are we being actively formed? I think it is both, and it all comes down to our willingness to receive.

When we are open to our purpose, the circumstances that cross our path take on a completely different meaning. We start to look for the lessons behind them. Even if we don’t understand the why right in the messy middle of a hardship, we have faith that one day it will all make sense.

This is where our practice comes in. Whether it’s yoga, meditation, prayer, or simply taking a pause, we use these tools to literally breathe through the situation. We stay present, feel what we need to feel, and notice the physical sensations and reactions in our bodies so we can journal, reflect, and grow.

But for the people who don't do that, the outcome looks very different. Without reflection, circumstances easily breed anger, pride, rage, and denial. It is that exact lack of presence that causes conflict and pain in our families, communities, and the world at large, leading to everything from broken marriages to wars.

The circumstances themselves are never who you are. Wealth, impact, poverty, or loss are just the environment, and it depends entirely on your frame of mind and how you handle them.

Even positive circumstances like sudden wealth can ruin a person if they aren't grounded. No matter what season of life you find yourself in today, the assignment remains the same. It goes back to the old proverb: chop wood, carry water. No matter what, we have to stay humble, be kind, serve our purpose, and make the world a better place. Amen.
