As temperatures rise and summer storms roll in, keeping our youth athletes safe means being prepared for both heat and weather conditions.

Just like a Hydration Break and Lightning Break in the World Cup, taking the right precautions helps players stay healthy, safe, and ready to perform.

Hydration Reminders:
💧 Drink water 1–2 hours before activity and in the days leading up to an event
💧 Drink again 30 minutes before play
💧 Keep water on hand during games and practices
💧 Bring shade
💧 Watch for signs of heat illness

Weather Safety Reminders:
⛈️ Stop play immediately if thunder is heard or lightning is seen
⛈️ Seek safe shelter in a building or hard-topped vehicle
⛈️ Avoid tents, trees, and open fields
⛈️ Resume play only after 30 minutes from the last thunder or lightning
