The Trail Heroes Trail Crew worked on the Quartz Ridge Trail again. We met at the 32nd Street Trailhead and hiked 1 mile. Starting at 5:30 am helped plus thank goodness most of the trailwork was in the shade!!

This morning the cool Dueling Javelinas Trail Crew hiked north on Sidewinder from the Apache Wash trailhead to greet the rising sun. And improve the trail, of course!
The Fantastic Folk cleared drains, worked the back slope, removed loose rocks and cleared away litter.
So much litter that a comfortable pillow was formed “suitable for any sleeping position.” That’s what the trash bag said. Honest!
The only sad sight was the view of the latest housing development going into the desert south and east of the Preserve entrance. Boo! Hiss!!

Phoenix Park Stewards Trail Heroes had a fun day in the shade on the Quartz Ridge switchbacks. We started from the 32nd Street & Lincoln Trailhead and hiked about a mile.
Some people's kids just don't know how to stay on the designated Trail! So we mitigated it.

The Dueling Javelinas Trail Crew worked on cover photos for the Arizona Highways magazine this morning at Apache Wash.

The crew was at Apache Wash and still worked on part of the Sidewinder Trail, but these pics will not be on a travel magazine. Just the usual scene as our friends improve the trails.

Trail Heroes Trail Crew worked on the Mojave Connector Trail and the Quartz Ridge Trail close to the 32nd Street & Lincoln Trailhead. We cleaned out a few drains, removed rocks from the trail, widen a trail pinch point and hardened a drain.

Dueling Javelinas Trail Crew at it again!
This time the great ones hiked around Apache Vista and then turned right at Gumby, going uphill on Sidewinder to mix things up a little. Drains, tread surfaces, the usual work. This is a bit of a technical downhill stretch and has exposed rock and a few drainage cuts that can trip folks up or lock onto a bike tire.

Three Cheers for the Dueling Javelinas trail crew!!!
This morning the folks returned to Apache Wash and waived “Howdy” to Gumby the saguaro, same as last week. Work continued north bound on the Sidewinder Trail.
Thanks to the rain, Mother Nature again proves she can be mean sometimes. More drain repair, trail surface improvements. The usual stuff!

Nine Phoenix Park Stewards and Ranger Brian finished the 32nd Street and Lincoln project by planting 3 trail posts on the new pathways.
Next week we meet at the same place and work on the trail.

The Dueling Javelinas trail crew started hiking at the horse trailer parking area at Apache Wash this morning. The overcast sunrise was beautiful as the crew went to the north side of Apache Vista, staying low on the Apache Wash Loop and Sidewinder trails. Gumby (a saguaro) watched as they corrected some erosion cuts brought on by recent storms.
All is well on the AW trails again!
