The Russian Kamov Ka-52 Alligator is an all-weather twin-seat version, of the Ka-50 combat helicopter designed to attack armored and unarmored ground and low-speed air targets. Based on the Ka-50 airframe, the front fuselage section of the Ka-52 was redesigned to incorporate a two-seat side-by-side cockpit. The Ka-52 features a wider nose due to reduced cockpit armor and the nose-mounted radar. The 30mm cannon and six wing-mounted hardpoints of the Ka-50 were retained in the Ka-52. The helicopter has a catapult crew rescue system integrating an ejection and rocket-parachute. The Ka-52 has six external wing stores for anti-tank missiles, rockets and air-to-air missiles, and radar systems mounted on the nose respectively. Samsh*te night / daytime thermal sighting system is housed in spherical turrets below the nose.

This all newly tooled kit of over 410 parts is 16” in length with a rotorspan of 16.8” when completed. The GG1, one of the PRR’s most famous and recognizable locomotives, is also one of the most curiously designed. Technically two locomotives under one shell (a “G” class locomotive is a 4-6-0 by PRR specification, therefore the GG1 was two “G” locomotives in a 4-6-0:0-6-4 arrangement). This added up to a 4.6k horsepower locomotive that was staggeringly powerful, even by today’s standards. Designed in the 20’s, built in 30’s, and not retired until the 80’s, the GG1 had an incredible lifespan and survives today as a testament to its time in both its unique Loewy-design and overwhelming performance. Thanks to the long life and usefulness of the GG1, many outlived the PRR, finding themselves in Penn Central – and later in their life, Amtrak – paint. These locomotives were used in everything from freight service to pulling Amtrak Passenger trains.

The GP39-2 was offered by EMD as a fuel-efficient alternative to their very popular GP38-2 model. This efficiency resulted from the use of a turbo-charged 12-cylinder 645E3 diesel engine. The use of a turbocharger increased the horsepower output from 2,000 to 2,300hp with four fewer cylinders. One other benefit of the turbocharger was improved operation at higher altitudes where thin air causes normally aspirated diesels to lose power and produce excess smoke. The largest original fleet of GP39-2s was assembled by Santa Fe who, over the course of seven years, acquired a total of 106 units.

More powerful than the Saturn V of the first moon program, NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) is the rocket that is taking human beings to the moon for the first time in 50 years. On April 1, 2026, human beings went back to the moon for the first time since 1972. The SLS of Artemis II, carried three America and one Canadian astronaut out of earth’s orbit on the way to lunar orbit and back to splashdown in the Pacific Ocean on April 10. AMT’s new kit of the Artemis II SLS rocket includes the main rocket, solid rocket boosters, the European Space Agency Command Service Module, and the Orion capsule inside its protective cover, all molded in white plastic as well as a large new decal sheet with accurate markings for the historic mission featuring the America 250 logos. The kit also supplies a full-color Artemis program sticker suitable for your car or toolbox and a 12-page booklet reprinting a FineScale Modeler article giving step-by-step instructions to paint the SLS.
