You may hear a Dolly Parton song or two during our classes at Fitness Alive today, to honor her life and work 🎶
In addition to being the Queen of Country Music, Dolly Parton was a champion for water safety. Her Dollywood theme park hosted a free swim lesson every June as part of the World’s Largest Swim Lesson, to ensure children and adults alike knew how to swim safely.
Whether she was helping children learn to read through her Imagination Library or helping families learn to swim safely together at Dollywood, Dolly’s passion for education and making it more accessible will be her greatest legacy.
We will always love you, Dolly!

FYI, all Fitness Alive swimming pools will be CLOSED for Summer Break from Monday, August 31st to Monday, September 7th, 2026.
This week is the perfect time to enjoy extra lap swims and classes at our Center City and South Philly pools, and to thank our coaches, instructors, and deck staff for all the hard work they do to make our pools the best swim spots in Philly 🙌
Extra special thanks to Coach Berlin for snapping this picture!

Looking for a swim coach who loves competitive swimming AND can help you avoid getting hurt as you train? You need to meet Coach Anika!
Anika is a swim instructor who’s using her physical therapy background to empower swimmers to excel in the water.
Coach Anika has loved swimming for as long as she remembers. After she competed on her high school’s varsity swim team and her local swim club in Princton, NJ, she continued her aquatic journey in college as a lifeguard. It was during her college years that she also began her career as a swim instructor and coach.
Today, Anika is pursuing her Doctorate through Temple University’s Physical Therapy Program while she coaches swimmers of all ages and skill levels. We’re grateful to have a teacher-turned-doctoral student who is eager to share her love of the water with our swimmers at Fitness Alive!

Swimming doesn’t have to be competitive. It can be the reset you need after a long day at work, or a new skill that’s been on your list your whole life that you’re finally getting around to learning.
Whether you’re learning to swim or trying to level up, remember - the only swimmer you need to impress is YOU.
Each day you’ll swim a little further, get a little stronger, and become more confident. Wherever you are in your swim journey…
just
keep
swimming.
We’re Fitness Alive, Philly’s favorite women-owned swim community for kids and adults. Learn to swim, build strength, and find confidence through swimming with us 🏆
