Day 238. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

It was a rest day.

I was gonna post some client flicks but I hate all the photos in this moment.

Good night!!!

Day 237. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

Man, you gotta start someday.

I’m telling you.

Start someday.

This s**t goes by really fast.

There are some things I started at the end of last year that I didn’t even wait until New Year’s to start.

When I decided I was done drinking, I was like nah, I’m not waiting until January 1st.

I’m stopping now.

That was important to me.

I wasn’t gonna give myself permission to keep doing something I already decided I didn’t want to do.

Now I look up and it’s almost September.

Almost my birthday.

I blinked.

Some small decisions I made 8 months ago have grown into some large, fruitful trees that I really value.

You gotta start someday.

Why not today?

Good night.

See you tomorrow.

Day 236. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

Man, it’s crazy.

Woke up this morning not feeling good, but I noticed one thing.

I felt better than I did last night.

That’s all I needed.

Clear sign I was moving in the right direction. I knew throughout the day I’d start getting back to myself.

I just had to force it in the morning.

And I’m good at forcing it.

Had a break in the afternoon so I took advantage and got a great workout in.

Electrolytes all day.

Yo, if you take anything from this post…

HYDRATE.

You think you drank enough?

Drink some more.

Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.

Great day. Great workouts with clients. Energy was up and somehow in my spare time I was heavily productive.

Made it down to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts to check out King Saladeen’s pop-up.

I actually walked past it on a date night with Mariana after the Masego show and knew I had to come back.

Secret fan from afar.

There’s still a few pieces left.

Go grab one.

If not, I’ll be back when Mariana isn’t looking.

Also got my laundry put away today.

Major W.

Someone at the gym told me small victories like that matter more than people think.

Vacuuming.

Sweeping.

Wiping something down.

Putting the damn laundry away.

They’re not home runs, but they put people on base.

Last but not least, I asked a client about something today that had absolutely nothing to do with me.

His response:

“That’s none of my business. Not my circus, not my monkeys.”

😂

Good night.

Day 235. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

I had serious plans of waking up early with great energy and tackling some tasks.

Instead I woke up with no energy and a type of nausea that had my equilibrium all off.

Tried to do some s**t anyway.

Felt worse.

So I had to lay down alllll day.

Did what I could.

The night was saved by a shared beef patty between me and Mariana.

Tomorrow I’m hopping up with energy.

I can feel it.

Good night.

Day 234. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

I laid in bed today for as long as I could.

Which was much longer than I should have.

But once I got up, things started moving.

Ran a bunch of errands and for some reason I just wanted to work with my hands today.

So I did.

Saw a red bird too.

I’m not calling it a robin.

I’m not calling it a cardinal.

Last time I did that somebody told me it was just a bird that was kinda red.

Never heard that one before.

My clients rave about Shake Shack and I’m a burger guy, especially on the weekends.

Tried it.

Not for me.

Went to Old Nelson and got a hoagie and some chips.

That’s for me.

Classic meal.

Got home and decided to cook for Adriana.

I was craving snapper. Wanted a whole snapper, but the filet made more sense this time. Grabbed that and some jumbo crab cakes from Cameron’s Seafood.

I love Cameron’s.

Some guy outside asked me if the fish was good.

I told him, “It’s great, man. They’re a staple in the neighborhood.”

Then I walked in and everybody was being mad nice.

Also pictured is some Wagyu jerky.

Man.

Best jerky I’ve ever had.

Maybe one day I can get some money out of them for saying that 😂

Good night.

I can’t say it enough.

Prioritize recovery.

If you’re 30, you’re already feeling it.

If you’re 40, you already know.

I just turned 40 and I’m feeling s**t I haven’t felt before 😂

I WANT to train 7 days a week.

I WANT to go hard every day.

My body has other plans.

So I recover.

Yoga. Stretching. Foam rolling. Myofascial release. Red light therapy.

And lately I added the MZCNU Air Compression Leg Massager Boots to the routine.

Simple as hell.

Throw them on. Pick a mode. Adjust the compression level and let them work.

And listen…

If you don’t like intense pressure on your legs, these might not be for you.

Me?

I LOVE that s**t.

I run. I squat heavy. I’m hitting legs about 3x a week.

So I’ll sit in front of the TV, throw these on, turn on the red light and watch Naruto.

That’s recovery 😂

Runners, you already know.

Lifters, get on board.

Day 233. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

This morning I really didn’t want to work out.

I knew how long my day was gonna be and I was like mannnn.

But then I thought, this workout is probably going to be more beneficial because this is the only time I have to myself today.

So do it.

And let the rest of the day develop from there.

Got the workout in.

Worked until about 3.

Then went to a Klutch Athletics event with a fireside chat with Rich Paul. Good looks Chris Unera

Amazing.

Traffic was crazy getting there so that power nap I thought I was getting before dinner?

Gone.

Went straight home, met Mariana and we went to Amá in Fishtown for dinner.

Food was cool. Service was great. Ambiance was dope. They did a good job bringing that Mexico City vibe to Philly.

And even though I was tired, I noticed everything I was doing kept giving me another little boost of energy.

Once I sat down with my wife though, smooth sailing.

That’s my best friend.

Then we went to see Masego at The Met.

Great concert.

That man plays everything 😂

Vibey. Funny. Down to earth. Not afraid to rag on himself either.

Walked home through the city afterward.

Nothing like a Philadelphia summer night.

Bikes everywhere.

Music blasting.

Long ass line at Jeni’s.

So of course we had to get some biscuits with the boss.

Now I’m going to sleep.

Tomorrow will be productive.

Body fat percentage is down too.

Good night.

Day 231. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

On my bike ride home, I got in front of my building and was about to hit the ramp when I saw the fattest ass in front of me.

For some reason, I gravitated toward it.

Normally I’d intentionally go the other way

Got closer.

It was my wife’s ass.

Which, technically, is my ass.

There’s something hilarious about randomly seeing your spouse in public, being attracted to them before you realize it’s them, and having that split second where it feels wrong.

Then you realize it’s right.

But it felt wrong.

But it was right to feel wrong.

Whatever.

Woke up in a little bit of a funk today. Just in my head about some things.

Per usual, I communicated it. Verbalized my thoughts. Then made a conscious decision that I wasn’t going to let certain things affect me and that I was going to have a beautiful day.

And I did.

Beautiful bike ride this morning. Took a rest day, but my clients definitely did not 😂

Shoutout to everybody in the gym today. The energy was good. The effort was there. We had fun.

And I’m not afraid to say this: I’ve gotten so much better as a trainer.

I locked in on my craft and killed a lot of the distractions around it. I can feel the difference.

Anyway.

Good night. 😂

Day 230. Doing less because I do the most sometimes.

Last year, I found myself doing way too much. This year, I want to do much less.

I didn’t mess with myself for a long time so I don’t blame you if you don’t.

It’s over for y’all.

The mornings are getting darker.

I’m noticing less and less people out around 5am in Philly now.

It’s fall and everybody kinda taking their foot off the gas.

It’s so hard to get fit.

I haven’t thrown a party all year.

Damn man.

All I used to do was party.

Now I’m not coming to a function unless it serves me.

I didn’t like how my skin would look after a weekend of drinking and being out.

It was literally the change in my skin quality that made me stop.

I pay attention to too much detail to continuously do something to myself that I notice in the mirror every morning.
