You can read about PYB and the Alan Horwitz “Sixth Man” Center all you want. But seeing it in person is a completely different story!
Last week, before his camp at the SMC, PYB staff Eric Worley and Alicia Lake had the opportunity to tour Philly’s rising star VJ Edgecombe and his family through the many spaces that make our facility so powerful.
From the Cohen Family Civic Dialogue Arena to the Forman, Heller, Gravina Early Development Court, every part of the Sixth Man Center tells the story of what PYB believes young people and community members need to thrive.
It is a place where young leaders build skill sets and mindsets. Where they are supported through mentorship, learning, wellness, civic dialogue, early development, and community connection. Where basketball serves as the cultural connector, and the full ecosystem around it helps young people grow on the court, in the classroom, in their careers, and in life.
The best way to understand the impact is to see it for yourself! Send us a message to schedule a tour of the Sixth Man Center and experience the space firsthand.

One week of welding, skilled trades, and future-building! 🛠️🎓Our Junior Varsity Welding Camp wrapped up this week, and we could not be more proud of the 15 young leaders who took a next step in their future!
Over the week, participants practiced mock interviews, heard from welding and manufacturing professionals, toured DeVal Lifecycle Support, explored careers in advanced manufacturing through DVIRC’s MVP program, and got hands-on welding safety and stick-welding experience with Miller Welders.
This is what Career Readiness looks like at PYB: exposure, confidence, skill-building, and real opportunities to imagine what comes next! Experiences like this help young people see new pathways for their future and build the skill sets and mindsets they can carry into school, work, life, and community.
Congratulations to all 15 Junior Varsity Welding Camp graduates. We see you, we are proud of you, and we cannot wait to see where you lead next.
Thank you to DeVal Lifecycle Support, DVIRC, Miller Welds, and everyone who helped bring this week to life.

Congratulations to Joey Crawford and Elena Delle Donne on their induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2026! 🏀
This is a proud moment for the basketball community and a special one for PYB!
Joey Crawford’s legacy lives at The Alan Horwitz "Sixth Man" Center, Powered & Operated by PYB through our Referee and Coaches Rooms, where the next generation learns the leadership, communication, accountability, and presence that keep the game strong.
We were also honored to welcome Elena Delle Donne to PYB’s HoopHers Symposium, where she shared her voice, wisdom, and leadership with young women and girls building their own paths in the game and beyond.
Together, Joey and Elena remind us that basketball is bigger than the scoreboard. It is a space where leaders are shaped, communities are connected, and legacies continue through the people who carry the game forward.
Congratulations, Joey and Elena!

What a special day for our Early Years Summer Learning young people!
Children’s author Hallee Adelman joined us for a book talk where our kids learned about her life, her journey, and why she became an author. Then, they read Way Past Shame together and brought the story to life through movement, conversation, laughter, and play.
Our young people were engaged, curious, and having fun the whole time. And of course, the Sixth Man himself made an appearance!
Thank you, Hallee, for creating such a wonderful experience for our kids. At PYB, moments like this help young people build confidence, use their voices, and see new possibilities for themselves.
