Thrilling new 5k that engages and challenges mind, body and spirit! FDR Park Philly! October 18-19, The NeurRun: for the mind, body, and spirit. October 19th.
The race consists of a 5k course with several stimulating, cognitive challenges. The purpose is to promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle which we know is the best way to promote a healthy, active brain. The race will take place at FDR park in Philadelphia, PA http://www.fdrpark.org/. Everybody does cognitive challenges before the race, either on a tablet provided by us or on their own device,
or some other mechanical device (Pencil). The cognitive challenges and questions are on our website. Each race "winner(s)" (top three in each category) receives prizes!! Diamonds and gold provided by Holland Jewelers, all prizes are given in honor of Allyse O'Donnell who was taken from us at age nine by aplastic anemia, her spirit permeates everything we do!
1. The Brain Dash is the "runners" race. There will be a mental challenge on the race course. Fast 5k time plus performance on cognitive challenges before and after run.
2. The Neuro triathlon combines cognitive testing before, a 5k run and trivia questions afterward. There will be a mental challenge on the 5k course.
3. The Neuro Chill is an un-timed 5k, fun-run/walk, hangout with your friends!! Cognitive challenges before and after the chill. Spend as much time as you like on the beautiful, paved bike trail course and at two Brain stimulation stations. (Stim station 1: music and dance 2. Nutrition and hydration.) Prize winners chosen randomly from all who finish the 5k, both stim stations and cognitive challenges. There will be Top-quality music with DJ and Musicians throughout the park!! And Much, Much more surprises and details to come!! This is gonna' be a 'PARTAY'!! So dress to Run around and have FUN!! There will be a DJ, food, drinks, and post race shenanigans!l!!! There will be vendor tents where you can get information about healthy living and brain disorders. All Proceeds go to The Harris Group, a non-profit organization that provides services to families suffering from Neuro-degenerative disorders and funds pilot research concerning the causes of neuro-degenerative brain disorders lilke Alzheimer's, Huntington's disease, ALS, Parkinson's disease.
