There’s a lot I want to say, but I’m not ready.
Actually not sure if I’ll ever type out all the thoughts and emotions running through my mind.
For now, just know the work got done.
My second 100 mile finish is complete and my body doesn’t feel like a mashed bag of buttholes.
I actually feel really good physically.

We can’t always get what we want…
Goal for yesterday was 45-50 miles, coming in with 37.5 in the board (38.8 in the watch)
I took a tumble on the first loop when a rabbit or something decided to run right in front of me as I was bombing down the switch backs.
I didn’t want to kick it so I stutter stepped and down I went.
I took a small break today to take a shower and get a massage - gotta keep this body moving.
But by 9pm the road rash and sunburn were talking to me. So I decided rest was best.
Goal for today is 25 in the morning, take a break to hide from the sun, shower and get a massage and then 15-20 more mile in the evening.
We’ll see how that goes.
I’ve got 3 folks we’re watching with GI issues, so that’s fun, but we’re getting them taken care of.
I’m not mad that I get to coach in some beautiful places!

It’s been a year, and my butt scar is almost gone 🤣🤣
Heading up to Colorado this week to coach the Milestone Rockies Challenge.
11 months ago we were in Zion for the event and I took a tumble in the dark on the first lap
For 3 days I had to run on a sore butt and try not to bust open the wound or fall again.
Our poor medic 🤣🤣
Here’s to hoping I stay upright at 9000’ high!

If you’ve ever wanted to do yoga on the beach in February, I got you.
The women’s wellness retreat is a little less than 6 months away and it’s seem like every day a spot is getting claimed.
If you’re looking to attend next year, now is the time to snag your room.
I know the bunk room is still open and there might be a queen bed left.
So if you’re taller than 5’3 and want to sleep comfortably, you better snag a queen while you can!
As a tally, I can’t speak for how you would sleep in the bunk, but the shorties have said they were super comfortable!

Math is hard.
This is what starting over looks like.
When you used to be able to lift plates on plates, but now you’re stacking change plates like a boss.
It’s humbling to say the least.
One day you’re throwing weights around a gym and training for competitions.
The next season you decide to be an ultra runner and only occasionally look back.
Then you realize you need to actually keep up strength training - but a different variety than last time.
And then…sometimes…you still want to do those big oly lifts.
So you start over.
No barbell snatches yet, but all in due time.

Who’s ready for cooler days??
I swear if someone doesn’t turn this oven that is Florida off, I might start flipping tables.
I hope everyone who was all “i can’t wait until it’s summer” is sweating their face off with a broken AC.
I hope they have an itch they can’t reach.
I hope they lose their sense of taste and can’t enjoy their favorite foods.
_____
Where are my sunny and 75 people?!
I would be farting rainbows if every day the high was no more 75°
Probably some of the best run times you’ve ever seen.
But instead…instead we’re all over here trying to keep our shoes from melting to the ground and staying hydrated so we don’t dry up into dust.
BRING ON AUTUMN!!🍂🍁

Try new things they said. It’ll be fun they said.
Pass.
Tried this new fuel on the bridge this weekend.
🤮
Ok ok, it wasn’t THAT bad.
This is just straight carbs and a little bit of citric acid to cut the sweetness.
Tasted fine.
But the mouthfeel!!
Not nearly as liquid as Carb Dope or GU liquid and not as thick as a GU gel - but close enough I don’t want to do this again.
And it was a larger volume than a standard gel pack so I really didn’t like it.
Would I do it again?
If I had to, just like a standard gel - I’ll do them if I absolutely have to, but I don’t wanna.

Have you tried this?

Let’s talk Crumbl and it’s dirty sodas.
Yes, Crumbl hails from Utah known for Mormons who don’t drink alcohol or coffee and instead make interesting soda concoctions.
Yes, just like Starbucks you can go deep in the paint of superfluous calories by adding a lot of syrup to an already empty calorie soda.
BUT you don’t have to.
I had a voucher for a free dirty soda - you couldn’t go wild, there were 6 options to choose from.
This ZERO CALORIE recipe was an option.
Sure you can get up in arms that no one needs a 1,000 beverage, but Starbucks has been allowing people to add so many pumps of sugar syrup you can’t call it coffee and no one batted an eye.
And just because something IS orderable doesn’t mean you HAVE to order it.
If you want a fun way to jazz up your beverage, you can check out their dirty sodas. You don’t have to make them dirty.
In fact I plan on going back and getting a Sprite Zero with watermelon because that sounds delicious.
FYI, they have Coke Zero, Sprite Zero, and Fresca as base soda options.
Will you try a Crumbl dirty soda??
______
Dietitian Note: if you DO want a healthier “dirty” soda, order a zero calorie base and syrup and bring your own ready to drink protein shake to add in.
Trust me, Coke Zero + fairlife core power = 🤌🏼

I’m about to make a lot of people mad.
Not everything needs to be maximum protein.
This is bu****it marketing on Uncrustables.
Regular Uncrustables:
210 calories
9gm fat
28gm carbohydrates
6gm protein
2gm fiber
First ingredient - bread
“Protein” Uncrustables:
320 calories
18gm fat
33gm carbohydrate
12gm protein
4gm fiber
First ingredient - peanut butter
Let’s discuss peanut butter.
DOES it have protein, yes.
Is it the highest macro in peanut butter, no.
Not even remotely.
A typical serving a peanut butter looks like this:
190 calories
16gm fat
8gm carbs
7-8gm protein
2gm fiber
If you’re trying to reduce your overall caloric intake, increasing your protein intake with nuts and seeds is going to jack up your fat intake as well.
This leaves you with less calories for the rest of the day.
But if you pair a regular uncrustable with an 8oz glass of fat free milk you’ll get these extra nutrients:
90 calories
0 fat
13gm carbohydrates
8gm of protein
Or you can eat your high calorie uncrustables and live your best life 🤷🏼♀️
Not every food is ideal for every individual’s diet. Some people need higher calories, some people need less.
Just some things to think about when you’re perusing the grocery aisles and get distracted by shiny protein labels.
