After a couple of weeks away from training—thanks to a lupus flare and traveling—today was my first day back.

And let me tell you… **the weakness was showing off!** 😂💪

While I was doing core work, the thought crossed my mind:

*Maybe I should stop.*

Then I looked up and saw exactly the message I needed:

**Growth happens when we push beyond our comfort zone.**

Well played, universe!! 😆

The truth is, if we never push through the discomfort, we stay exactly where we are. And I have goals to reach, dreams to pursue, and absolutely no intention of staying where I am.

Was today pretty? No.
Was it easy? Definitely not.
But I showed up—and sometimes, that is the victory.

What have you been pushing aside because it requires effort, courage, or discomfort?

Your dream is still waiting for you.

And there is no better time to take one step toward it than **today.** ✨

Today, my sister sent me this video of my dad speaking, and it stopped me in my tracks.🙏 ❤️

He was such a gifted speaker, an extraordinary physician, and, more importantly, an incredible human being.

My dad was the person who first taught me to **dream big**.

He taught me to give 100% to whatever I chose to do.
To get back up after a fall.
To never stop learning, growing, or becoming better.

He reached the highest levels in his profession, yet he never believed he had “arrived.” He continued to study, to grow, and to strive for excellence throughout his life.

But perhaps the greatest lesson he taught me had nothing to do with achievement.

It was **humility**.

He taught me to respect everyone, regardless of title, position, education, or status. And he didn't just tell me that—he modeled it every single day.

He approached life with enthusiasm and gratitude. Every day was a gift. Every person mattered. And there was always another opportunity to learn, contribute, and become better.

Watching this video today feels especially meaningful.

Because now, all these years later, I find myself stepping onto stages and using my voice to lift others—to help people dream again, believe in what is possible, get back up after their own falls, and hopefully inspire them to light the path for someone else.

And suddenly, I can see so clearly where so much of that came from.

**You, Dad. ❤️**

Your voice may no longer fill a room here on Earth, but your lessons still do.

They live in the way I dream.
The way I work.
The way I get back up.
The way I try to treat people.
And now, perhaps, even in the way I speak.

I can almost hear you saying:

“Come on. You can do this. No stopping now!”

So I won't stop, Dad.

I'll keep dreaming.
I'll keep growing.
I'll keep getting back up.
And I'll keep trying to use my voice to make a difference—just as you did.

You continue to inspire me from Heaven.

I love you and miss you more than words could ever express. ❤️

**Your legacy lives on. And I promise to keep carrying it forward.**🙏♥️

**WHEN POSSIBILITY BECOMES REAL...**

When I was 17 years old, my dream of competing at the World Championships was taken away by a political decision.

For a long time, I believed that chapter of my life had ended.

Some dreams never completely leave us, though.

They quietly wait...

Waiting for us to believe again.

Tonight, I cleared 1.80 meters in the last pole vault meet of our Summer Series.

Then I stood on the runway looking at *1.95 meters*—a height that would have tied for third place at this year's USATF Masters National Championships for my age group.

I didn't clear it this time- very close!

But for the first time in decades, I didn't see an impossible bar.

I saw a possibility.

That changes everything.

This isn't about a number.

It's about what happens the moment a dream stops feeling impossible and starts feeling attainable.

That feeling is priceless.

I'm incredibly grateful to my phenomenal coaches and my amazing teammates at Pole Vault Miami - your support amd encouragement mean more than you know!

Tonight also reminded me of something I hope you'll remember.

**That dream you've quietly placed on a shelf...**

The one you've convinced yourself is too late.

Too difficult.

Too unrealistic.

It's still there for a reason.

Maybe it isn't asking you to have all the answers.

Maybe it's simply asking you to take the first step.

To decide.

To commit.

To do the work.

Because greatness isn't found on the other side of certainty.

It's found on the other side of courage.

Tonight, a dream I thought I had lost forever began to take shape again.

And I cannot wait to see where this journey leads (although Indoor Nationals in Feb and Indoor World Championships in March are on my calendar)!!!🌟🙏

**Dream again.**

**Commit completely.**

**Fly higher.**

SOME DAYS, SHOWING UP IS THE VICTORY.

Today, I considered skipping my meet.

I wasn't feeling my best. My body hurt. My mind was carrying more than usual. Everything seemed to be saying, "Skip this one."

But months ago, I made a commitment to myself. To train and compete at Nationals and World Championships next year Spring. And I realized something...

A commitment only counts when you honor it on the days you don't feel like showing up.

So I went.

The conditions weren't ideal. The meet was delayed because of thunder, lightning, and rain. The runway was wet. I hadn't practiced in over a week - fear came rushing in! Nothing was perfect.

And yet...

Today wasn't about setting a new personal record.

It was about discovering that I am capable of more than I thought.

I tied my personal best and barely missed the next height. More importantly, I left knowing that I *can* jump higher. I gained confidence. I proved to myself that I can perform even when conditions aren't ideal.

But the greatest gift of the day wasn't over the bar.

While waiting during one of the weather delays, I met a former basketball player who came incredibly close to playing professionally. We talked about Masters athletics, and by the end of our conversation, I introduced her to one of our coaches as she told me she wanted to return to competition.

That reminded me of something I often share...

Sometimes the greatest victories aren't the ones measured by medals or records.

Sometimes they're measured by the lives we touch along the way.

Today, I didn't just honor a promise I made to myself.

I found joy in the journey.

I gained confidence.

And if one conversation helped someone rediscover a dream they had almost forgotten, then today was a success far greater than any number on the scoreboard.

Keep showing up.

Even when the conditions aren't perfect.

Even when you don't feel 100%.

You never know what you'll discover... or whose life you might help change simply because you decided not to quit.

The biggest lesson Australia taught me had nothing to do with public speaking.

I didn't realize how many limiting beliefs I had quietly been carrying until I stepped completely outside my comfort zone.

I traveled halfway around the world, hoping to become a better speaker.

Instead...

I came home seeing myself differently.

For years, I quietly carried stories that many of us tell ourselves.

“Maybe my best years are behind me.”

“Maybe turning 60 means slowing down.”

“Maybe I don't have what it takes.”

Then something unexpected happened.

People I had just met—people I deeply admired and respected—began reflecting something back to me that I couldn't yet see for myself.

They talked about my energy.

My positivity.

My message.

My light.

At first, I smiled, thanked them... and brushed it off.

But somewhere on the long flight home, I realized something.

Maybe they weren't giving me something I didn't have.

Maybe they were simply helping me see what had been there all along.

Sometimes, the people we meet don't change who we are.

They simply reflect back the person we've been all along.

Australia reminded me that our minds often make predictions based on fear...

while life is quietly gathering evidence that those predictions simply aren't true.

As I begin this new decade of life, I no longer believe my best years are behind me.

I believe they're just beginning, and I am so excited for what is ahead. And when your life is driven by purpose and contribution...priceless!!!

So let me ask you...

What limiting belief have you been carrying... that life may already be trying to disprove?

**Gravity is doing its job.**

It isn't trying to stop you.

It's simply doing what it was designed to do.

Fear is the same way.

Self-doubt.

Failure.

Criticism.

Disappointment.

They all have one thing in common.

They pull us down.

Just like gravity.

But here's what fascinates me...

Airplanes don't wait for gravity to disappear before they take off.

Birds don't wait until there is no wind before they fly.

They simply create more lift than gravity can hold down.

Life works the same way.

We spend so much time trying to eliminate fear, waiting until we feel confident enough, ready enough, or perfect enough...

When the real question isn't,

"How do I get rid of gravity?"

It's...

"How do I create more lift?"

For me...

Lift comes from purpose.

From faith.

From consistent practice.

From surrounding myself with people who encourage me.

From choosing courage over comfort.

Gravity will always be there.

But so will the ability to rise.

That's what **The Art of Flying™** is all about.

Not waiting for life to become easier...

Learning how to fly anyway.

Pole vault...

You voluntarily run full speed while carrying a pole, plant it in the ground, launch yourself into the air... and somehow convince yourself this is a good idea. 😂

After almost a month away from the runway—thanks to Australia, work, rainy weather, and a cat bite that had other plans for my hand—I stood at the end of the runway last night during my latest attempt to consistently return to practice at Pole Vault Miami (best team ever)!!!

And there it was, that 4-letter word...

**FEAR**

It had been patiently waiting for me.

For a split second, it whispered all the familiar questions...

*"What if...?"*

But then another voice spoke.

*"You've done this before."*

*"Trust yourself."*

*"Just go."*

So I did.

And just like that...

I remembered.

Not because the fear disappeared.

Because I decided it wasn't driving this moment.

Was it perfect?

Not even close!

Do I have a lot of work ahead?

Absolutely. But I am on my way!

Now my knee (torn meniscus) just needs to cooperate so I can get stronger, faster, and more powerful.

This practice wasn't about jumping higher.

**It was about getting back on track and proving to myself that my dream is still
Possible.**

One practice.

One vault.

One courageous decision.

One vault closer to World Championships in 2027- my goal.

Because everything I've learned—in sport, on stage, and in life—is this:

**Fear doesn't disappear before we take the leap. It simply gets quieter once we realize we're stronger than we thought.**

So... whatever "pole vault" you're facing today, don't let fear make the decision for you.

Take the first step.

You may surprise yourself.
